Gas

just curious......... does anybody usually fill half a tank to 3/4 of a tank? instead of a full tank?

half a tank of gas : full tank of gas

more mileage b/c it's half the weight.......? haha.
i usually realized that i get more mileage on the 2nd half of my tank of gas.... comparing it to my gas meter.... but i know that isnt usally acurate

uhmm... i don't know about that. i usually fill to full too... since i fill up when i see it cheap.

speaking of gas... do u guys notice that the car pulls harder/stronger when the gas level is higher? i notice when the fuel gets low... it doesn't pull as strong. anyone else notice this? maybe i have a bad fuel pump or something?

It's all in your mind...

It's pretty much proven that your car goes faster with less gas.. less weight

that's my point.. haha.
less gas is used... b/c of less weight. half a tank of gas.
as for going faster... whenever you have less weight.. you will definitely be faster... even by a split second.

i usually fill up when the light comes up.. usually 50km to 100km's to after the light comes on

the light comes on at around 10L to 15litres left in tank...... it's usually 15L i believe though....
my tank is filled usually at 45litres.
somtimes even at 48litres! hahaah

Your mileage will be sooooooooo minutely extra.. that it won't be worth it.. that extra weight is next to nothing.. that's about 12.5 liters...

That's next to nothing.. take out those subs in your trunk and it'll reduce weight more than that gas will.

Me and my buddy went to Shell one day to fill up his Si.. and we stood there for 10 minutes.. It clicked @ 43 Liters.. gas was cheap at that point.. it was during that 49.9 cents a liter time I believe...

anyways.. we can't let that go to waste.. so we kept squeezing.. putting the nozzle just about 1 cm into the inlet.. we filled up the inlet pipe too I bet.. we managed to squeeze 52 liters into the tank...

I've often wondered the same types of things discussed here.

I dont know off hand weight of a litre of gas but I would have to assume that you get better mileage near the end of the tank simply due to less weight. However, I have no confidence that the needle is that accurate either. The first 70 km don't even move it off the top and sometimes the last 70 km move the needle substantially and sometime it just stays near the E for seemingly ever.

As well, the fuel light does not come on consistently. Sometimes it come on I put in 38 litres. Today 40 litres I put in and the light hadn't come on yet. WeIrd.

Don't overfill (ie. up to the inlet pipe). It will eventually cause the inlet pipe to corrode. As for me, I always fill up completely once a week.
