I got SPAMMED, on my cell phone!!!

This SPAM crap is really getting out of hand.....

I just got a call on my cell phone (Fido is my provider)....

The Call Display said "18668286076".... I'm like... WTF? Someone calling from a 1-800? Well, I'm expecting an important interview call, so I pick up..

"Hello?" No response..... Then, I get this automated greeting CRAP, for a cell phone company!!!!!

It advertises the local number, for me to switch to Telus, etc.... ("We're an official provider of Telus mobility" or some crap like that), also spat out some information....

416-923-1686
Cellular Systems
check out www.Toronto.info for more info

Or call 1-866-828-6076...

I AM NOT ADVERTISING FOR THESE FOCKERS.... I will be giving them fockers a call at that 416 number above, and give them a piece of my mind...

This is a bit different from Fido's SMS messaging spam mails that tell you about deep discounts on older model phone accessories, etc.... This is just crazy.....

Well, it doesn't take a PhD to understand the cell phone numbers.... Cell phone companies have their cell numbers in blocks, with all the same prefixes....

Alot of the 82x-xxxx, 87x-xxxx ones are all Fido for sure.... Check with a friend who has a Telus or Cantel or Rogers or Bell phone.... The prefixes are usually saturated like hell, so if you friend's cell number is 416-976-xxxx, then most if not all of the other 416-976 numbers are also cell phone users, on the same provider....

This particular company is trying to wooo Fido customers to Telus.... FOCKERS!.

Yes I know that. But I also do know there are people out there who are buying these lists. If there are people buying then there are people selling. Right?

it's supposedly illegal for them to spam you via SMS because you are paying to receive the msg. Same reason why telemarketers can't call cell phones. You should be able to raise hell.

Same thing has happend to me a few times as well. Only problem is that the calls have come in the daytime when my phone was off, meaning I have to listen to their stupid message once I turn the phone on after work, since you can't delete a message until you have listened to it.

I also seem to get call every so often from some fax machine.

Really? I'm on Telus and I push 7 to delete the message even if I'm in the middle of it. This has proven to be a bit of a bitch tho....once I deleted a message by accident right when I was trying to write down the VERY VERY important (yes it was a girl's) number therein.

The SMS messages that come from Fido, even though they are ads, are FREE. There's specifically a little tag and the end of message that says this is a free SMS message from Fido.

i had the same feature with rogers. im with fido now

but with rogers, i was able to push '7' in the middle of the msg to delete it. i realized that.... as long as you dont hang up... and when you're done going through your msgs... they are not deleted yet. all you gatta do is push '1' to play the next msg. (which is from the beginning)... and the msg would still be there.

.... at least it was still there with my phone/rogers.

im not sure if the same feature is offered on fido... maybe i'll give it a try some time this week.

Actually, it's not Telus directly... It's a small reseller shop that's selling Telus subscriptions...

Just all we hear is TELUS, and we all think Telus is the bad boy....

They are tho, their phones really look fugly Their ads are quite neat and funny tho...
