Don't waste your time with FL. Grab yourself something crazy like the Sonic Foundry Suite - SOund Forge, Acid Pro, Vegas - that's all I use and it's enough, believe me. Reason is great but you need serious HP to run it. And let's not forget the great granddaddy of them all - Cubase. Still a force.
loungey, hit me up to discuss.

Jungle beats are usually sampled and sped up hip hop breaks (ie the famous Amen break - classic stuff). There's no such thing (to me at least) as beginner software. I went right for the hardcore stuff, and as my skill level and creativity grew, my beats got better and better. If you wanna go right down to basics, Cakewalk is OK.
And as for your last statement - don't buy software because of the loops it has packaged...buy software for its flexibility and expandability.
Keep in mind also that if you want true quality beats you'd better be ready to shell out for some hardware - software emulation is just not enough. Brands to keep in mind here: EMU, Roland ,Alesis, Korg, among MANY others.
Here's a site a friend of mine started. Though I never actually participated, it helped me quite a bit just reading some of the forum posts:
Future Producers
Lemme know if you have any more questions, ESPECIALLY when it comes to jungle beat production. I'm actually looking forward to stepping back in the studio with some good friends; it's been almost 5 years since I cranked out a track, and I'm itchin to get back into it, as you can see.

I dunno if I still have the install files, seeing as how I got <ahem> "permanent evaluation" copies...but I'll take a poke around. At the least I can try to get you Acid, Vegas, and Sound Forge.
so yeah, even without hardware, you may want to search FutureProducers for good software synth emulators. When I was hardcore into it, Orangator was all I needed. I never went to school for this kinda thing, but it does help to have a music theory background, just to get your phrasings and keys down.
