p.s. I PW on here cos www.clubel.ca is now classified **** by my work and I am firewalled now for trying to access the very site I administer. I kind of shot myself in the foot here, cos I was one of the ones how said "Let's not censor anything ClubEL guys, freedom of speech....etc etc.etc.". Now look, all the swearing and me posting nekkid pix got me blocked.
I'm bored as always... the only time I post here is when I'm at work... well, about 99.9999% of the time.
And yes Telly, end users SUCK ****!
Cue - "Click on start..."
end user - "start, start.... where's the start button?"
Cue- " You've been using your computer at work for 15 years and you still don't know where the start button is??" W T F???

TeLLy: "OK please restart your PC"
<2 seconds>
User: "OK done"
TeLLy: "Already? Did you turn it off then back on?"
User "yeah, the screen went black then windows came right back on"
TeLLy: <rubs temples in agony> "Wait a second, how were you turning it off and on?"
User "I was pushing the little button under the screen that had the symbol on it"
TeLLy "You mean that little circle symbol with the vertical line in it?"
User: "Yes that's what I do every day to shut down my computer"
TeLLy: "That's the monitor...you've been leaving your computer on all night every night, 24/7 and you have simply been turning off the monitor".
User: "But the monitor IS the computer right?"
TeLLy: <vomits violently in frustration>

To IT people, the computer is the computer.
To end users, the computer is the "hard drive". The monitor is the "screen".
I find often I have to ask ppl, are you using a monitor, i.e., like a TV? Or are you using a flat screen, the thin kind. (this got complicated ever since monitors came with flat screens)

Hahaha.
I'm not that bored. I work for a very busy attorney doing estate planning and estate administration. I come here to "take breaks" since I don't smoke. I wish I was bored at work. There's always a fire to put out here. It gets kinda frustrating always having more to do than time to do it.

I find myself in the following situations a lot:
1) User can't get into our ecommerce site
Reasons:
- user does not have an internet connection on PC
- user has a terminal and not a PC
- user trying to log into wrong website (our website is Eway.ca, and we get a lot of people trying to log into Ebay)
- user can't remember password
- user does not have an account
2) User cannot log into our local network
Reasons:
- user does not know password
- user does not know login ID
- user had account suspended due to gross misuse
- user had just been fired (that's actually only happened 2x)
3) User's PC not working
Reasons:
- user had unplugged PC's power supply in order to plug in radio/coffeemaker/fan/space heater
- user left floppy in the floppy drive
- user hit space/enter so hard that the key stuck
- user spilled coffee in the laptop, denies it....gets busted when the keyboard is pulled out and connectors are saturated in Timmy's double-double

That's just neophytes trying to adopt PC buzzwords and acronyms. Stupid noobies.
Yeah, I hate that? I got confused before when they first called the CPU a hard drive.
