Clearing and Blackingout Next Sunday-Make appointement
the sedan headlights use a different kind of sealant as the coupes. You'll notice that the coupes have these black sealant comapred to the sedans where it's gray (I think). Anyhow, the seal for the sedans are much tougher to work with.

I have the grey sealant on mine. No problems at all, came off nice and easy after 3 minutes in the oven.
BoSS, I dun use a heat gun cos it takes too long (UP TO half an hour per light just to OPEN), and you have a greater chance of overheating part of the housing - it's easy to melt with too much heat. Plus you're using a screwdriver or something similarly shaped to pry the housing apart. If the housing is hot (heat gun OR oven) then you are going to be permanently bending a little piece of the lip from the back of the housing. Not a big deal once sealed, but with a heat gun you have to go around the whole housing with your screwdriver/prying thing as you apply heat with the gun, leaving little bent lip parts all around - looks like the edging on apple pie. With an oven the whole housing is heated so you pry off one or two clips, and the whole thing opens like a clamshell.....in literally a FRACTION of the time. If you wanna use a heat gun that's fine but I guarantee you will have condensation cos the little bent parts of the housing lip will have a greater chance of letting moisture in. Plus with oven it's easier to reseal....just pop the whole thing back in the oven. It's up to you, I have a heat gun, you can borrow it, but I can guarantee you guys will be comin back here swearing up and down about condensation....
Who's still up for this? BoSS, holla at my celly...

OK I got a couple cars today...I can squeeze one or two more in so if you want in just call me at the phone number above and I'll tell u how to get to the "workshop"...
Got room for a 1.7EL? I want blacked out housings, keeping the orange reflector in. I don't have the paint, will try to head out to Cdn Tire now. I hope they're open, or that you have extra paint lying around
What's the market rate now? The price was fluctuating all over in this thread

Where are you guys anyways? Can I stop by and just take a look at the sick rides?
SOMEBODY PM ME WHERE U GUYS ARE AT
(I don't think I have the time to get the lights cleared and cash is tight right now as I'm going to court and hiring a paralegal (small claims court.. I'm suing somebody).)

I went to a local Cdn Tire....
- They had flat black BBQ paint for INTERIOR, and EXTERIOR. Which one?
- They had no Dupicolor wheel paint
I was thinking of picking up a spray can of "Krylon Interior/Exterior" BLACK paint. Would that work?
You think black headlight housings would look alright? Or graphite? Black would match all the other newer Acura headlights (like on TLs and CLs), and would also match the stock upper grille of the EL
Question about the reflector. What would you put in if you were to rip out the orange reflector? Leave it empty? What's behind the orange reflector???

Sorry guys, family affairs got in the way today. Meet will be resched soon.
As for paint - Furball, I wouldn't trust that stuff as it prolly can't stand up to the heat in a headlight assembly. U don't need Duplicolor graphite wheel paint if you're goin black. Get the EXTERIOR BBQ paint, and instead of the graphite stuff get duplicolor low gloss engine enamel.
Leaving the orange reflector out would leave an ugly little hole. If you wanna be handy smurf grab some clear reflector material (no idea where to get this...prolly homo depot) and you can cut and auto goop it into where the orange reflector was.
$50 per car for headlights, be it clearing or painting (if I'm painting YOU supply the paint tho). If I get 5 or more cars $30 per car.

Huh? Sounds a bit confusing below...
- I want blacked housings. Flat black. Would "Flat Black BBQ Paint - EXTERIOR" be enough? Or, would I still have to buy the BLACK Duplicolor low gloss engine enamal?
- Problem is, I can't find Duplicolor at ALL at the local Cdn Tire store (Bloor/Yonge). Would the Krylon brand fit the bill? Where do you guys usually buy this crap? Which store?
- Also, regarding LOSS OF LUMINOSITY... How much light output do you feel that you lose because of this? A friend of a friend had his RSX-S lights blacked out, and he really noticed it.
- I'll see what kinda reflector I can find in the bike section that's the same size/shape....Otherwise it's staying orange for me.
Who else wants in on this??? I hope we can get 5+ people
$30 sounds so sweet!

I use the BBQ paint as a base - dries faster than primer and leaves a textured surface for the low-gloss black paint to grab on to. So ya I use both. EVERY Canadian Tire store has Duplicolor brand paint...just look in the automotive paint sections.
Loss of luminosity - you do notice some loss, but I have a friend with blacked headlights on his 1.7 - still plenty bright as the main reflector area is intact. Your corner light bulbs will be more discernible tho.

i wanna leave my reflector in as well.
thanks!
