picked my rims + tires
picked my rims + tires
Alright boys and girls, I've FINALLY decided on the wheels + tires I'm getting. Well, more of wheels than tires.
I'm going to get Konig Holes 17x7 wheels with 4x114.3 bolt pattern.
I'm going to get Kumho 712 Ecsta tires 215/40R17
Even though I did most of my research, I still got a few questions.
1) What is "offset" exactly?
2) What is the difference between a wider tire and a narrower tire?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------EDIT
Woohoo. I ordered them today, they should be shipping tomorrow.
I went with the 215/40R17 4x114.3 bolt pattern (it's a bit different for a Lude)
I decided to go with the thicker tire cuz the stocks are already 205. I don't have any pics (obviously) but here are some pics of the rims I'm getting on a Miata. These are 16", the ones I'm getting are 17".

go with 205/45/17 tires... thats what i went with, with the 712.
best bet in tire difference in my opinion\
wider tires equal more gas consumption i believe.
offset.. id otn remember... not too familiar with tires/rims... but when i got my rims at wheels direct.. they figured eveyrthing else for me.
40offet?

Yeah, I agree with AznSaint.. 205/45/17 is the proper size.. you could still go with 215/40/17, there isn't that much of difference..
Wider equals more gas consumption, rougher ride, more noise, and loss of power. Benifits are better looks, better handling, better traction off the line, and better braking.
Off-set is how far your rims go into your car..... it determines if your wheels will stick out, tuck in, or be close to flush with your wheel wells (ideal). 40mm is the proper off-set for 195-215 tires, I believe.. might want to double check on that though. Generally speaking, most rims are already at 40mm, and you should be okay.

i was going to say that too...
the proper bolt pattern is 4x100...
but i see u have a prelude, so never mind the comment...
i would also go with some 45's on tires.... they give better cushioning and more protection for ur rims...
but nonetheless, nice rims

those rims are sick...but only in the black w/machined lip.
you should have gone with 18's. in my opinion, 17's on a prelude is a bit too small. i have 18's on my '98 prelude(not lowered) and they still look a bit small to me. maybe it's just me?
