Rep Power: 0 Current SiR vs Last SiR
Which is quicker?
Here's my experience........ based on racing them both with the Celica GT. From 120km/h and on, when I raced the last SiR, I pulled from it. But when we got to 180km/h, then SiR started to catch up and pass us. 3 highway pulls, all same results. I know it's got no torque, and the Celica actually out muscle it. Shorter gearing and bigger displacement helps!
Tonight I ran into a NEW SiR. Long story how I met him, but decided to go for a highway pull. We started from 100km/h. But now there's Injen CAI and a cat-back exhaust on the Celica. It was literally DEAD even! I did pull on him by like 3 inches until I braked (it around 150km/h at the time, and I got scared of cops).
From my exprience..... the new SiR is much quicker!! I don't know about top end, and I can't comment off the line, but it's way more freakin responsive and actually has power on tap, unlike the old B16C engines. Mind you, I had another person in my car, and he was alone, but still.
I actually took the cam with us, so we got it on tape The race was so even, it looked like we were dead still!

Rep Power: 0 VicLX.. you give too much credit to the old school SiR.
GTS has more power, more torque, 6-speed, and is 200lb lighter than SiR. No freakin' way SiR will win ANY race against it. Keep in mind GTS is a 14-sec car, and old SiR is a 15.
I read in a couple of mags that older SiR is indeed quicker than the new SiR if you are drag racing, and you launch HARD. But during highway pulls, the new SiR's reponsiveness is VERY impressive. The engine is 400cc bigger, plus iVTEC. I read that it makes more torque at 3,000RPM than SiR does in its peak. I could vouch for that from my race last night.

Rep Power: 0 NO NO.... the old b16 is a hot *** engine.... ill give it some credit as well...
whereas... the Celica GTS torque????? u must be kidding me....
180HP and 130ft/lbs of torque, thats gutless man!!!
that car doesnt come to life till after 6000RPM... its basically a top end car, but i did race a GTS when i had my stock Neon. and he pulled hard on me....... but i still managed ok... i dont know if he would of pulled hard after i was done with my Neon!
the new K20 engines are way more better..... for modding... just remember guys..... HONDA know whats they're doing.....
its only the beginning process and everything is NEW!
i still gotta take a new SIR out before i decide to stick the motor in my car!
oh yeah the new engine might not rec to 7500 RPM but has gobs more of torque!

Rep Power: 0 01Coupe... for a guy who drives a civic you give the GTS more credit...
but why is it that you didnt buy one...and roll with a vic.???
14 sec car???? hahahahahaha
stock for stock it'll give the GTS a run for its money.... or maybe I just hang with the real BOYS who can drive it right... and you race the ones that cant drive the SiR's ......
the b16 isnt a legend in the racing world for getting smoked....
and as far as the EP3 SiR hatch it red lines at 6700 while the 6th gen SiR reds at above 7800 .....
yes I-Vtec does pull a lil harder than the regular Vtec but that but remember the EP3 is HEAVY as hell for a Hatch
no beef.... but start teling us about your 7th gen stories!

Rep Power: 0 First of all, I bought a Civic LX because it's 18 plus tax, not 32 plus tax like the GTS. If I had the money, I would have bought it. Unfortunately, my budget said Honda Civic.
Second of all, redline doesn't mean CRAP. If it makes 160HP at 4,000RPM then that's BETTER than waiting to make it at 9,000RPM. Yes, the new SiR is heavier (slightly), and I did state that it is slower when racing through 1/4 mile. But if you are telling me that the old, torqueless SiR can pull on the new SiR through ANY part of the powerband, you are mistaken.
VicLX.. I like you and all.. I think you're a cool guy.. but you need to chill out buddy. Only reason I mention about the Celica is because if I could hang with any Civic SiRs in my LX, then I'll tell you all about it. But I can't.
I have no idea why you get so worked up when I mention the words Celica and Civic in the same post. I like to talk about all kinds of cars, not just our Civics.
Whatever... but hey.. you say you will give a GTS a run for the money?
Cool. But talk is cheap. Why don't you meet up with me and race against the SLOW Toyota Celica GT. I'll even let you have a whole car length head start. Loser buys beer.
Are you up for it?

Okay. I guess we're not racing tonight.. no reply yet from VicLX.. he's probably watching fireworks or something.
How's CAYUGA at FRIDAY night sound? We won't have to worry about cops, and it's pretty much the safest way to end this argument of Civic vs Celica GT.

Rep Power: 0 the ITR is not a 14 sec. car.... though id love to have one.....
that motor wasnt meant for DRAG RACING!!!
but autocross....
B16 is probably the best motor for road racing... while the b18 is good for drags... but usually the H22 is an all time favourite!
you guys need to chill out.
if i had a civic hatch.... id go with a B18A - thats right.... NON VTEC so i can turbo the **** out of it!!!
but for all motor.... B18c1 or c5

Rep Power: 0 and a 14sec car would be a EG hatch with an H22a... now thats a drag ....
B16 and B18s are good for high revs... like circuit racing...
and H22's are great for drag due to the high torque on a light car like the EG
and if some would like to get technical we can POP a B20 bottom (CRV) and with an LS Vtec head ..... now thats a BAD BOY........
correct me PLS if Im wrong....

Rep Power: 0 VicLX... come on man.. don't back down now. You said you can give GTS run for its money.. I'm asking you to race a lousy 140HP GT. I remember you saying it was impossible for a Celica GT to pull on an SiR. And how you smoked Corollas and such.
Sounds like to me you have a fast car.. but I'm not asking you to prove anything to me. I just want to see it go at the track.
Just a friendly race at Cayuga dude.. we'll go out for beers afterwards. Let's do it!
