Who has a kitty?!?!?!

me and my gf are planning to adopt a kitty this week.. but neither one of us have had one befor.. is there anything that we should be aware of!?!??!?... also, how do we train the kitty so he/she doesnt **** everywhere in the house??!?!?!?

since my girl friend lives in a condo, its better that the kitty doesnt meow-meow loud and crazy!!!!!.. so.. should we get a male one or a female one/??!?!?
thanks for any advice in advance!!!

if you're adopting one, chances are it'll be box trained already..
just find a good place to put the box and as soon as you take the cat home put it in the cat box (the kitty shytter )
has it been de-clawed (probably not if it's a kitten..you should wait until it's about a year old) so you'll have to worry about scratching of your furniture..just get it a scratch-post, you should be alright..

male or female, they'll both meow a bit, but it all depends on disposition pretty much..
chances are it'll already be fixed, but if not wait until it's about 6 months old..

if it's strictly an indoor cat you won't have to get the whole range of shots..
cats have no perception of height really, so keep it off the balcony unless attended..
if you get a male watch for chrystals (urinary tract infection)
best food i've found is performatin maintenence from pet valu..

good luck!!
