WTF! Dealership Service Differences
Hey guys, just wondering what you all thought about this.
Since I had my car up at school mostly up until this point, i used to goto Honda of Ithaca (upstate, NY). I used to get all my oil changes done there. I would bring my own oil and they would do the job for $13.40 ($6.00 Labor + $6.41 Filter + $0.99 Tax). Now that I'm at home I had to get one done around here. So I went to PS Honda (on Northern Blvd.) this morning. Same procedure, oil change w/ my own oil. When I got my car back, they charged me $21.75! ($12.00 Labor + $8.05 Filter + $1.70 Tax). I showed them my Ithaca invoices and they just gave me a blank stare indicating that they dun care.
I dun understand how their labor costs are twice as much as Honda of Ithaca...I'm sure they're not working twice as hard. And don't they get the same parts, why would theirs cost more?! I'm sure I wont be going back there, but I just wanted to know is this kind of thing standard. Do I now have to shop around for Honda service?! Thanx again for your opinions.
Also, if you know of dealerships/service places that you're happy with in Queens/LI, please let me know.

It depends on the rules that the owner sets. Each dealer around me tells me different things and charges different things. I go to the one where i bought my car even tho it is kinda far away. Try another dealer.

most honda dealers on the island charge between $20 and $25 dollars for an oil change. Maybe you should just bring your oil and filter to a local mechanic and have them do it. Oh and beware of PS honda, they are the worst.
