Rep Power: 0 Beat my brother in a drag race
Hi I know its not really an introductory post and all, but my brother keeps talking about how he has "the fastest thing" on the road, His first car was a Charger RT AWD, wasnt that fast, back then he loved all cars, and had respect for them,Then when I bought my 6.0 GTO, he wanted to run, So I did, I beat him every single time. By far. He then bought an 04 SVT Cobra, He has Stage 6 ported stock blower and pulleys. He makes around 520. But what I cant stand is he ALWAYS runs his mouth about how fast he is and how he takes out civics and mainly how every time you talk about the car, he claims to be the fastest thing out there, and how all civics are slow,at mid 11s his car is fast but he runs his mouth too much, mainly I am looking for someone with a nice setup to take him out to shut him up, he says if he ever gets beaten by a civic he will shut up, so just wondering if anyone here is up to it.
Thanks
Thanks

Personally, I think drag racing is boring. Woo, straight line.. I'd much rather see how fast he can take an autocross/road course.
Also, as a poor college student, I enjoy my 30+ MPG. Even when I was boosted for a bit, I still made 36+MPG on road trips, 30+ on city, assuming I didn't abuse the turbo

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: Beat my brother in a drag race
Thought I'd post this just to show some of what it took this person to go fast in a Civic.
High nine seconds fast.
Many years ago back when I first started at this dealer I'm in now, this guy hooked us up with a ton of parts (from his personal stash) for a JDM Integra engine swap into an old Civic that was a customer job.
His car ran in the 9s.
Ran a stock trans for the class, said he got 2 passes out of each trans. Replace trans after 2 passes. Was down to 20 minutes to replace a trans LOL.

Hooks up hard! Post about broke motor mount off of trans case: http://marketplace.honda-tech.com/sh...85&postcount=1
He has said the next level would have been boosting into the 40 PSI range, which would have taken MANY thousands of dollars if he wanted it to stay reliable (20k+, IIRC), far more than he had available.
AFAIK, he didn't have big sponsors backing his project, so no big dollars to go to the next level. Sold it.

yer brother is not fast. he bought a powerful engine in a package that transfer the torque well enough for the *CAR* to be fast.
get that straight to yer brotha.
who is fast are the ones that run around corners in an underpowered car but great handling poking V-8 exhaust pipe around the corners.
so, no, yer brother is not fast.
also, drag racer are not fast. good engine builders with some knowledge on making the tires hook the ground in straight line. yer brotha is not even an engine builder, so he cannot even claim that since he simply bought the car. end of line there
