NOVA Cops Aint Takin Ish No More!
I've had my magnaflow exhaust since december of 2001. I got it cuz it was a good price from the group buy, and the quietest exhaust you can buy. So 3 years rolls by, and I haven't had any problems whatsoever. Then in December of 2004 I get pulled over by a state trooper on 66w near the Fairfax Vienna exit. Ticketed for both my exhaust and my window tint. I go to court, and the cop doesn't show so it gets dropped.
March rolls by and I get pulled over again within 2 miles of my house. Ticketed again, but this time I say **** it, I don't feel like going back to court, so I pay the $30 ticket with the $57 processing fee. I have my exhaust painted black so it's less noticeable.
Then tonight, I'm waiting to turn outta Fairfax Towne Center and a cop is behind me. I'm thinking, if he wanted to pull me over he woulda done it at the light. I take off from the light going like 5 mph and get pulled over right away.
3 years ticket free, and now 3 tickets in 4 months. I can't take this anymore, and I'm going stock again. The only thing is that my stock exhaust is hacked up now cuz I had a muffler welded to my stock piping. When I sold the muffler, I had to take off part of my stock exhaust pipe, so part of that is missing now. Anyone know a good muffler shop that can redo my exhaust for a good price?
Watch out NOVA people with exhausts, the piggies are cracking down hard on imports, especially mine.
P.S. If anyone is willing to sell their stock exhaust I might be willing to buy it. I've searched old threads and people have sold them as cheap as $75. If anyone in Midatlantic is willing to sell their stock exhaust for around there I might consider it. I'm also open to trades for my Magnaflow, I don't think I'll have a use for it anymore.

Rep Power: 266 They're cracking down because right now there is now set limit on how many Db your exhaust can put out. Most cops are ticketing at 80Db right now, but there is a bill somewhere in Va that is trying to set the limit at 95Db. I guess piggies are trying to pull in as much revenue as they can while there's no limit.

Rep Power: 316 My last 3 tickets were not because of size, loudness, etc. It is unapproved equipment, unapproved being anything other then stock. I know my exhaust isn't loud, and he knows too.

Rep Power: 266 That's bullshit... for the law to say that anything other than stock is unapproved. I've heard somewhere that it's illegal for them to do that. I believe if it has a C.A.R.B certified sticker or number, then they can't do ****.

It can be carb legal but be to loud by state law and considered noise polution.
Check the your local DMV site
see if you can find the state law for allowed sound DB's and from how far.
Then you can go get the car tested to see if it meets state requirements.
If so show it to the judge and ave it thrown out.

but thats prob cause i live in woodbridge i dunno

Rep Power: 316 Some of you guys that don't live in Northern Virginia don't understand how bad it is up here. Virginia law states that anything other then OEM factory equipment is unapproved equipment and subject to tickets.
I presented my case to him while I got pulled over, also about how my exhaust is "50 state legal." But all he told me was "your exhaust is 50 state legal if you don't take it on the road, that is what they didn't tell u." I didn't notice how much that did NOT make sense, but I wasn't getting outta that ticket under any circumstances.
He basically said he'd drop the charges if I proved to him in court that my exhaust was stock by then, so I'm tired of being followed for no reason and getting pulled over and I'm just gonna give in.

cops can pull some nasty ****. like when my sister boyfriend was caught driving w/o license and was hauled into county jail. they tried to pin more charges on him by dropping a bag of dope or crack and askin him wtf was that? trying to make him touch the bag. he didnt touch it tho, he outsmarted them dumb donut bastards.
when you guys were talken about the exhaust my friend for some strange reason put his stock muffler on instead of his loud exhaust..mayb thats y.
