Can a totaled car be donated to charity?

Can a totaled car be donated to charity for a tax deduction?

the engine works fine just the rear got a lot damaged

I know in NY their are regulations! A totaled car would be valued as salvage. (as I'v been told)

I dont know if the new law as passed, but it states that you can only claim what the charity gets paid for your donation. This is to keep people from overestimating their car's worth.

Someone hit you vinh? Take out the D17, bore it, stroke it, make it bullet proof and sell it.

I think Salvation Army and the American Kidney Foundation take salvaged cars, but as mentioned above, the laws regarding it were recently changed...it used to be real easy and now it's a total bitch to do.

mm... last time my parents donated a car, it had to be able to move on 4 wheels/tires.... this was from the salvation army.
