Does Anyone Kayak??

Any Yakkers Out there ???

My wife and I just got some kayaks, we've had em out in some real begginer stuff on Deer Creek and the Susquehanna River. Basically trips that are about 1 hour. We would like to kick it up a notch, but don't know where. If there any local Kayaker's please drop a line. Or if anyone knows of any decent Kayak resources... (be nice to find an active forum) Please drop a link.

Thanks.

i was looking to start last summer, but couldnt find an inflatable kayack for cheap enough. cant drop the dough on a rigid kayak. then started thinking about building one, but gave up on the idea for now because i have no space to build in.

anyway...it depends on what kind of kayaking you want to do. sea kayaking can be fun, relaxing trips around lakes are also fun. if youre looking for whitewater, go to where you bought the kayak and they should have some guide books for your area. you mentioned sesquehanna <sp>, which i thought was in upstate NY, so if youre in this area check out the delaware river around port jervis and hawks nest. theres some great river runs over there. thats where we went rafting. you can pick whatever distance you want...its a long river. ranges in difficulty w/ the tide.

The Susquehanna is the most northern part of the Chesapeake bay, I know it goes into PA... I may have a tributary that leads into NY ... I dunno. We shopped around a good bit and ended up spending about $260 on the kayaks at BASS pro world, we had to drive like 60 miles to get them... but it was a great deal. There like 9' long so I don't think that they are fit for Sea Kayaking.

Haven't heard anything on the inflatable ones... you can pick one up on eBay pretty cheap

what brand kayak is it? just curious. yea, i was looking on ebay a lot. theres really good inflatables and not so good ones, you kind of get what you pay for. plus i was looking for 2 (for me and my ex)...but thats not the case anymore. so once spring/summer comes i might start looking again. theyre great to go out and do some fishing on also.

now that you mention it, susquehanna is probably in PA, i remember that name from my college searches, but i might have been looking in PA also. lol

anyway, go to like campmor.com or the actual store if youre in the area. they have GREAT books about where to go.

Looks like Bass pro doesn't sell my Kayak anymore... I honestly forget what brand it is.. but it looks like they now carry Old towne.

That's kinda like the one that I have except mine is solid blue... and we have padded fold down seats. It's really basic but I really like em.

thats a great deal on a hard kayak. i need an inflatable though because i have a miata. its a hassle to get a roof rack on that thing...and an inflatable will just fit in the trunk, i hope. haha
