Resistor trick

Has anyone actually tried the Resistor trick in which it makes the engine think its receiving cold air constantly? I searched, but I found no one whose actually tried it.

Fooling the ECU into thinking it is sucking in colder/more/denser air than it really is is pointless. It would just make the car run richer, wasting gas and possibly causing cylinder leak-through in the long run.

The resistor trick might work if you have a turbo or some sort of forced induction, but then you could also cause detonation and burn holes through your pistons.....

Just buy an AFC

Is this the $2.95 "performance chip" you speak of??? Buy one and then it for me, that's about what it's worth.

btw the resistor sells for under a dollar at radioshack...And i have tried this and taken it off. All it does is makes your car run richer...no noticible gains with our cars sorry

Trying to fool your internal sensors by using lower or higher impedance resistors is a BAD IDEA. Use an impedance that is (a) too low or (b) too high and you run the risk of seriously messing up your motor. I don't even think there is even a fuse to protect you against (a). So if the resistance is too low and the resulting current fries some internal circuitry, then you're going to be up a creek.

The key to making more power is to force more air into your combustion chamber and have enough fuel to support the added airflow. That's it. Fooling the ECU into thinking it has more/colder/denser air is not going to do a single positive thing. Baaaad idea.
