I don't dig the idea of running 3 cylinders. If I have a V6, I want to have all the power I can and have it available all the time.

but why have the power on all the time if you don't need it all the time? If you only run 3 cylinders when that's all you need, you'd get twice the gas mileage ! Then you could punch it when you need to and have all 6 cylinders. Basically you'd have the best of both worlds.

GM 1st tried this a long time back, but it didn't work very well. The idea's not original.

It's good to see it come back, imagine a pratical Bugatti EB112 A quad trubo v- 16, running on 4 cylinders, when cruising (saving a TON of gas!!)

GMC will start to use D-O-D systems on their large trucks and SUVs in either 2004 or early 2005. Which is ncie to hear when you consider the gas those monsters eat.

Why wasnt this done sooner is my question? Idiots.

Same ol' VTEC as the J30A1s on the '98-'02 V6 Accords. The question is, will this engine be SOHC, or DOHC? It looks to be SOHC, although the article doesn't specifically state this. I love how the engine cover looks, much better then the current J30 engine on the 7th gen Accord which looks
