Pottstown Honda
Hey, I was at my Honda dealer a few weeks ago for my first oil change. I told the service rep that the car pulls to the right when I take my hands off the steering wheel. I wasn't sure if it was an alignment issue because the whole steering wheel turns.
After 30 minutes, that little bastard came to me and told me that my oil change was complete and the pulling to the right might be caused by an allignment issue. However, they found a tire replacement and a scratched hubcap on my car; therefore, they can't determine if it's a collision that did this. I explained to him that I hit a nail and had to relace my tire, and the scratches (barely any) on the hubcap probably occured during everyday driving. The guy keeps on saying I could have hit a curb or something, and told me I need to get authorization from American Honda before they can perform further repairs.
Without telling me EXACTLY what is causing the problem, they refused warrenty??? Is that legal?? How hard would it be to get authorization from American Honda? Should I just try another dealer? Are there any other 03 Accords out there with the same problem?

yeah, sometimes it's the "routine" way they do things, but most of the time they're just doing it (a) for their benefit (b) to be annoying.
The only real way to avoid arguing with those damned dealership workers aside from saying yes to everything they tell you and forking up loads of money, is it go to school and learn about automechanics for yourself.
They're nice to you up to the point you drive off the lot with one of their cars. After that you're just like all of the rest. The service shop for my dealership is located downhill from the actual dealership themselves. It's like they try and keep away those who already bought from them. punks.
Try another dealership.

Do you think every honda dealer is linked? Because on my receipt for the oil change, it stated that there was a problem with the vehicle pulling to the right, but found a scratched hubcap and replacement tire. Will other dealers see this?
Tell me what you don't like about yourself....

hmmm.......maybe so. I am pretty sure they are linked. That sucks. I would fight them on it.
Speculation is NOT proof that you got in an accident. They can't prove it unless it shows up on a carfax report. Since you didn't get in an accident they cannot legally deny you claim to the fix.

They're not going to do an alignment under warranty anyways. So what does it matter? Alignments are just routine maintainance and you'll have to pay for it, so warranty has absolutely nothing to do with this at all. Only time it'll be covered is if they do something that requires alignment as part of the work (like replacing a strut).

But, shouldn't the cars be properly alligned when it comes out of the factory? I mean I only have 4500 miles on the Accord. Why would it go out of alignment that quickly? I know I didn't hit anything, and I don't beat on my car at all.

just go to a different honda dealer.. i go to one thats about 40 min away just to get their excellent service... yea theres one closer.. but i dont like that one as much... they seem crooked
cause i went there to get the anti theft code for my radio cause i missplaced it and they wanted $95 to give me the code... and they said if i brought them the radio they could get the code for free... so i did, but they didnt ask me for any proof of ownership or anything
and as far as dealers being linked.. thats a big negative they only keep track of ur miles...

Cars can get out of alignment from daily driving, hitting bumps in the road, a variety of reasons. Dealerships do not cover alignments under their warranties anyway. Sorry, but you're going to have to pay for the alignment yourself.
