7th gen LX vs. EX?
Another feature that I just read that the EX has is variable intermittent wipers. The LX only has 3 wiper settings: Slow Fast and Intermittent, and I don't find the number of speeds to be adequate. The slow speed is often too slow, the fast is often too fast and the intermittent delay is often too long. The last few cars I've owned had several settings usually around 15, with around 3 intermittent and 12 variable, and I have never really gotten used to not having the feature.
Another reason to go with the EX.
Another reason to go with the EX. You could also look at an HX... it gets the best gas mileage of any Civic Coupe. The CVT is neat (I know, you are going with the manual trans).
Plus, the HX also comes with lightweight alloy wheels...
Best of luck!

Since you don't really want a sun/moon roof, just go for the LX! But unfortunatlly I really wish I would have gotton the EX. But if money is not a prob, the EX has a bunch of "little things" like coin holder in back, extra cup holder in the back (if i remember correctly) and rims, etc... but in my case I SHOULD OF GOTTON THE EX!!! =X
I own a 2k2 EX Sedan myself and I couldn't be happier... unless it was a 2000 Si... but anyways.
The ABS has saved my *** numorous times, the sunroof is fun for summer driving, and the vtec gives the car a kick over the LX and DX models (I have tested this myself...) Plus the rims (or hubcaps) are nicer and the whole car looks much more classy because of the bodycolored molding, mirrors and doorhandles. The whildshild whipers are nice for when its raining, but at the same time its not... and the CD player (when i bought my car only available on the EX) is something I wouldn't be able to live without.
So for 1800 extra bucks its not a bad deal.
Go for the EX.

That about sums it up... Or if you want the features, spend the money
I didn't, so I didn't LOL

I love my LX plus its lower compression will be better for turbo I've heard. Like halocivic said save the 1800 and get intake exaust headers. Who cares about 15" alloy wheels? I would replace those anyways. and the extra weight the extra hp in the EX is a joke.
Go with LX
Go with LX
I think I've made up my mind and settled on the LX. I had originally planned on that anyway until I started looking at accessories and realized some came standard with EX. The EX mostly consists of stuff that's "nice to have" but I don't really need and some stuff that I just don't want or care about. Most of it is stuff I'd expect to more likely find in a mid-size than in a compact. It's a little more upscale than I need it to be. The higher payment (and, as it turns out, higher insurance) are better spent elsewhere.
Whew... Now I just need to decide whether I want the coupe or sedan!

amen to that 2k1civic. the back of the 4 door sucks. it looks like.... well yeah you get the idea. anyway good pic on the lx. the middle man always get some. but the top guy always forfeits something(ex) and the bottom man just sucks (dx).
well the ex i think is only good for one thing and thats the v tec but like everyones being saying a few mods and youll still kill the ex. its just 12 more horsepower. so take care and good luck

Anyway, this is off-topic and a matter of personal taste, so it's best left alone.
I'd prefer a 4 door, but its because I've owned several 2 seat sports cars and my point of view is that if you have to have a back seat, might as well have back doors to get to those seats, or why have the seats?
However, my last car I did one better. I got a WRX wagon because why have a car with some cargo room and not maximize it?
Anyhow, with the Civic, it just ended up that the best condition of a particular car for a particular price was the white/tan LX coupe I ended up with. Personally, I didn't care if it was going to be an LX,DX, EX, HX or coupe/sedan... I just picked the best car for the money on my used car market.
That said, I don't NEED to carry people in the back, but if I did I would go with the sedan 10 out of 10 times. Heck, its too bad they don't sell a 4 door hatch version of the Civic...

heh isn't the 5 door hatch the civic type s they sell in asia?..i saw that a longass time ago anyways..something to keep in mind about coupes and sedans as far as civics go..u'll be spending a lot more on insurance for a coupe than for the sedan..just a thought..im 18 though, which might have something to do with that
I dunno about the Type S -- could be
As for insurance -- my WRX wagon was cheaper to insure than my Civic Coupe. I didn't get a quote on the sedan, but the agent basically said Hondas are spendier to insure because of the higher theft rate.
Its sad when you can buy a faster, better handling, more expensive car and pay less for insurance...

rear cup holder? get that drink outta my car
sunroof? ozone layer is thinning, puts your head closer to the sun on hot days
115 hp to 127hp, if you want fast....... buy a fast car

I put an AEM CAI and it added 5 horsies. I also got some 17" SSR Competition rims which are way lighter than the OEM wheels at 12.5lbs per rim (minus the rubber), and overall I'd say I am happy perfomance wise. I street raced an EX and whooped him.
