What do ya think about the Lan-Evos
Well ill be graduating soon, and i figured as a present to myself i might get me a Lancer Evolution. I havent decided if i want to get an import or just go down to the dealer and see if i can order one with all the trimmings.
I just wanted to know what anyone thinks or has to say about them?
(BTW im not going to buy one of those chezzy looking ones that everyone else has, im going for something damn near close to rally grade, but just enough to still be street legal)

I would personally wait for the STI to come out and see how it compares... I believe they are about the same price. So far i've seen 2 evo's and I have to say seeing them in person totally changed the way i thought they looked (way better in person). Then again if i had that much money i'd see how much i could get a used M3 for
but other than that its a sweet looking car and of course, fast. not sure how the interior holds up.

I would get the Evo just because it's my fav AWD car for quite a while.

i dunno.. subaru has a 50k mile waranty... and a 60k drivetrain warranty on the sti...
plus its got a driver controlled center differential (DCCD) which allows the driver to control how much power goes to the front and the back.... for different feels so i would get the sti...
cause u can make it feel like u have a different car every day of the week!!!

Thanks for the feedback, in response to some of the questions.
First: Ill probably be doing a trade in for the civic which should be fairly decent since ive only had it for not even a year. The rest ill finance plus my folks will probably give me a nice down-payment graduation present.
Second: I was looking at the wrx but i just didnt like how those things looked. I mean i still want the car to have some kind of visual appeal, im not going for all performance and no look.
Third: Yea im not going for one of those chezzy base looking lancers that everyone and there grandma buys. Yea i want that big *** wing that they give to you if you buy everything. I want this thing fully loaded, sitting on 18's with chrome trimming the interior, short shifter(i.e the works).
Does anyone have a pick of the new WRX????

RX8!!!
personally ive heard bad and good things about the STi. someone said they only fix your tranny 3 times...or some ****. 60,000 mile warranty? bleh! i like the Evo8 too though. if youre going to get an Evo8 be sure to replace the crapppy stock altezzas with some stock regular lancer ones. theyll look mutch better. a british guy who has an evo 8 here did that and it looks much better.
but my personal choice would have to be an RX8 or the new S2000. im not a big fan of four doors thats the reason. but i cant say i wouldnt trade my vic in for one.

From what I have read and heard about, despite being down on power, the EVO VIII is faster than the STi. Mainly the supsension and chassis rigidity makes it faster, and can corner faster than the STi. Also about the DCCD in the STi, while it is good and all, it requires a lot of maintenance because it is changing your differential all the time (just from what I've heard).
Plus, I just like the EVO VIII better. You have a manual intercooler spray button that you can press (how cool is that) and the twin-scroll turbocharger gives better response down low, where most turbo's lack.

evo
you get a momo racing wheel with recaro seats and BREMBO brakes and a intercooler sprayer. you also get great yokohama tires and standard 17" enkei alloys. the engine features hallow camshafts and of course a turbo charged engine. Also it comes standard with hid headlights. all things considered i would buy a evo and swap the oem gaytezza's with some jdm red ones (assuming japan does not have altezza's as well)
