i personally think that the sti looks alot better than the evo! i would go with the sti just cause mitsubishi has had so many problems with their engines and i think that subaru has a higher resale value!

LOL gotta love Initial D, personally I'd go with the EVO, I've been in love with that car ever since I've seen Tommi Makanin rip up the WRC in that car.

That statement is incorrect, because at least as far as the Evolution being faster than the STI, on any race track with a competent driver, it is. Check every mag comparo out there, and I think every auto mag including Grandma's Pocket Rockets Monthly has done one, and they all pick the Evo, hands down, unanimously. HOWEVER, the STI, with more hp and way more low end torque, wins the acceleration test every time. So it all depends on what you want. One car, the STI, is the king in acceleration, so if that's your thing, then go for it. The other, the Evolution, rules in handling, braking, and road dynamics, so if you don't have to be THE fastest thing off the light, then don't even hesitate and get one, probably for $10k over MSRP, LOL. Just my.02.....

Exactly, see, I do my research

And the thing about acceleration is true, but that is easily fixed with a Ralliart ECU, and upping the boost slightly.

You can check this video and decide if you like the evo: http://www.imprezawrxsti.com/images/evovssti.WMV

Personally, both cars are powerful but I'd choose the evo because of better handling

the spec they have of the sti isn't entirely correct, they gave a 2.5 motor for the us market instead of the 2.0

Damn, this has become a heated topic. Hey man look at it this way.

1. You have an evo...this thing is one of the highest anticipated cars to be imported into the us
2. With the sti, yah u got a beefy car...BUT U STILL ARE DRIVING A SUBARU. (where were they b4 the wrx.....cough..cough.....uhh i think they produced some pretty crappy cars.)
3. Yah the subaru has a 5 year warrenty....well if u watn a warrenty i heard hyundai is giving out a 10yr one.....IF ANYONE OF US ARE ON THIS FORUM WE KNOW WARRENTYS GET VOID QUICK WHEN THE MOD BUG BITES!
4. Who cares that the car is in the fast and the furious....if anything it will raise the resale value b/c everyone will want one.

Thats my 2 cents.....dont buy a subaru.....if u want a fast pos i can get u an accent and put a huge turbo and some nos on it.....they are ugly! and if u think they are all that...go down the road to audi and look at the new S4......that thing has a v8 in it!!!!

Good points, generally, however, while the new Audi S4 is an awesome car I wouldn't mind selling a non-essential organ for, it is not even CLOSE to being in the same class as the STI and EVO. Maybe performance wise, but not $$$ wise. For the cost of a S4, you could buy a STI, (at MSRP), and still have enough $$$ left over for a SRT-4 (also at MSRP)!!!! But I do love Audis. My dream 4 door right now is an RS6, even over the new E55 and M5, because the Audi will be rarer.

Hmm... let's see:

Celica GT-S = 180 hp, 6 spd

Civic = 127 hp, 5 spd

I like the Civic better, but I'm not stupid enough to think it is faster than a Celica

i just found something out about a lancer.

I was talking to an evo owner while at R&E racing yesterday, and he was buying some C10 race gas. So i asked him why he was doing that. He said its because they require 94 octane gas, and we can only get 91 here. So he has to put 3 gallons of C10 with the rest of the tank of 91 octane so it wont detonate. That stuff is like $3.00 per gallon!

But he said he runs a 13.2

Yeah. That's true about them having to run higher octane gas, because they run 19 psi of boost.

If i was undecicsive about a lancer or a sti i would go
lancer its cheaper by 10000 well the sales guy at franks subaru told me a sti was gonna be about 40000 and the evo 8 is 30000 its about 10 grand less for almost as much horespower besides i think the evo8 looks better . But dont get me wrong bolth cars are incredible cars . Ive read the evo8 handles really well but is not as comfortable as the sti on the inside and driver comfrot is big if your using it as a daily driver .

again still waiting for you to prove me wrong. I may have said that a civic can be faster then a celica but it depends on which kind. IF you think that i believe that a civic can beat a gt-s your stupid. I supposed you think a rs could beat a gt-s huh??

but again still waiting for you to back up your words which you never have.

good point there

personally, i think i would go with the evo unless that is true about having to add that crap so it does not detonate, thats too expensive, if thats true, id go with the sti, either way, im still jealous

I would take the sti over the evo for the engine setup.
sti is running 14.5psi with cr of 8.2:1
evo is running 19.0psi with a cr of 8.8:1
which engine will have the more wear and tear?
pricing Road & Track as tested:
evo VIII=30,062
wrx STI=32,550

just think, if SFpower does a turbo upgrade and a front mount intercooler on the STi. Just think how much power it would be making then!
