RSX miss shift, then Boom!!!!

I know for a while I was having problems between 1st and 2nd because if you pull the shifter too close to you when you shift, something with the shifter will make it feel like it is in gear but it is actually in neutral. Ive corrected my problem with just getting used to not pulling the shifter so close to me and instead just pulling straight down in gears. Luckily though, I havent had any downshifting problems yet (knock on everything/anything that will bring me luck against this, ) I can see why some people have problems though cuz the pattern is really close though with the k series 6 speed.

This simply occured because the shift GATES are located closer than your 5-speed Civic. It's an expensive accident... not an act of stupidity like some unexperienced teenagers think.

The K block on a RSX-S is very prone to blowing when new where as the valvetrain hasn't fully broken in, it'll blow even easier.

16,200 RPMs = 2 RSX-S powerbands. It had no chance in hell of surviving.

this is a very uncommon mistake that happens to many 6-speed drivers. i've heard lots of these stories happening to s2ks, celica GT-S's, and RSX-S's

If you let the shifter guide itself rather than jamming it into gear, you're less likely to miss a shift... I think anyways

I just say get used to it first and pay more attention in WOT. It's not like it can't be mastered. Otherwise, no one would be racing those cars.

Yeah its easy to miss shift in the RSX, but I really don't see why he had to down shift. Yes he had Hondadata and his revlimiter raised to 8900 rpms, but he was at 7000rpms in 5th and down shifting into 4th would have put him at 8700 rpms. So he only would have had another 200 rpms to go in 4th. I just think it was a stupid mistake. He knew it was going to put him really close to his revlimiter down shifting into 4th, but he went ahead and did it. Or tried to do it. I'm sorry, but I do not feel bad for this guy at all. He was at really high rpms to begin with and knew what was going to happen down shifting, so he shouldn't have do it.

I can only imagine what it would do to your concentration if you were on the track when you did this. Too bad about the missed shift, I guess he learned a valuable lesson.

I learned the lesson years ago that if you don't put oil in your car, it will frell up your engine. Haven't done it since. Let's hope he learns too.

I had a buddy that did that to his 2002 Toyota Celica GTS while drunk doing around 100 shifted from 6th into 2nd not paying attention trying to down shift to slow down...... Toyota took the car to study it...
