i should be getting a r1 once the weather gets nicer, those of you just starting out in bikes, i suggest you purchase a r6 first, because the r1 just has too much power for a noob to be riding on.

Insurance for me on a crotch-rocket would probably be around $5,000 per year, if they would even insure me on it.

That and I'd probably be dead within a year. :P

I dont own one, but I borrow one of my dads harlys every once and a while its an 86 FXR. I love that bike

I decided that, ever since I started to race my car (autocross), If I was going to go fast it would be with 4 wheels. So its cruzin when I'm on a bike.

Last year I had a 2002 Honda CBR 600F4i. Unfortunetly I totalled it being stupid. I was going to get another bike this year until I found out the the girlfriend was pregnant. Now I have to wait until next spring to get my Suzuki GSX-R 600. No more being stupid on a bike. I don't need to have a fatherless baby.

I have been riding for 12 years now and the R6 is still my bike of choice. The R1 isn't "too much bike for me" it's just too much bike for carving the conrners in the fashion I like. Very few riders can take an R6 to it's full potential (**** I can't even take it to it's FULL potential..and I've been riding the same bike for 3 years now) It seems were all caught up in top speed and 1/4 mile times. I dont have respect for some dipshit that bought a hyubusa and pinned the throttle to pass me. However if you keep up or pass me on a twisty road..you will get respect from me. For the record..I feel the same way about cars...who cares if your WRX, SRT4, SI, or whatever can beat me from a light? Can you keep up with me in some corners? Just my .07 cents (I wrote waay too much for it to only be .02 cents)

PS Ducatti 748 = YUMMY Only thing yummier is the 996s or new 998s

Well, I went through All State insurance and it was something like $600. That was just for the riding season which is from like April-Sept. My bike payments were $150/month with no money down.

ok, well, since i just got my bike, i dont know the fuel mileage it gets, but im guessing in the 28-38 mpg range, or better, also, im paying 492 per year through progressive with 2 at fault accidents, one comprehensive claim(vandalism), 1 not at fault accident, and one speeding ticket, it woulda been higher if i woulda got the Kawasaki Ninja 250R that i was gonna get, my other choice was a Honda Rebel, both are 250cc's, the rebel and my shadow were a few hundred less, because they are cruisers, and generally, you dont do stupid things on crusiers. Personally, if you dont have much startup money, and cant afford another monthly payment(or a real big one) plus insurance, id get either a decent used one, a Honda Rebel($2,999), or a Ninja 250R($2,999), you could also look at the Suzuki GZ250(i think), they retail for $4,200 i believe, see if you get a smaller bike, theyer easier to learn on, not too much power, not too heavy(good for us little guys), pretty agile. then, you can trade it if you want when your skills out grow it., imo, a 600cc machine is way too much for a beginner.

The CBR 954RR was made until 2002. You're probably thinking of the 929RR.

So if insurance prices are determined by the size of engine, what approximently would be the price of insurance for a 600cc bike?
