usually costs about 1.5 times the cost of your drivers license. and yes your regular tickets effect your motorcycle insurance at least they do in my state

I pay 600 a year in insurance for my bike under a 42yr olds license. Thats full coverage and I got into an accident last year with 3000 worth of damage. Dont get a 250cc youll outgrow it too quick get a 600cc bike youll be fine.

I'm going to disagree. Honda bikes are like Honda cars, they do pretty much everything well without standing out in one place. As far as handling goes...nothing comes close (stock) to a ducati 999s (replaced the 996s / 998s)Ducati's racing motto is " we might not accelerate as fast...but we never have to slow down". In the reality world (since most of us wont be buying a $20k+ bike) Yamaha is more renowned for it's handling (keep in mind were talking about stock bikes you can buy at your local dealership) Followed by Suzuki(the gsxr...cause the katana handles like a pig) As far as power goes...Kawasaki pretty much owned that notch until the hyabusa came out. Except for the hyabusa, Kawasaki still makes the more powerful engines. Honda bikes fall right smack in the middle of all these...and for an all around bike they rock. They don’t really have much weakness (comfort depending on your body type). As far an insurance goes...you’re going to find a huge range. Harley Davidson insurance (yes they insure rice rockets as well) gave me the best deal of $600 a year full coverage. Progressive quoted me $2400 a year for less coverage (go figure) Take a motorcycle safety course, it usually lowers your premium no matter who you insure through

Wow, I never knew that Harley Davidson has an insurance business of their own. Do you have a bike? If so, do you use Harley Davidson insurance?

I have an 02 Yamaha R6. I actually use an insurance company called Meridian who is basically owned by State Auto. I have my cars through them so I get a good deal. $350 a year for coverage from April through October

Well, I guess I need to research more into insurance companies. I have to find a cheap insurance company before I buy a bike!

Theres nothing wrong with Honda bikes I just personally dont like them . Hondas are known for being very comfortable. I dont like Kawasaki either but the 636 is starting to change my mind. I just love the way Suzuki and Yamaha bikes feel. No disrespect for you Honda owners.

What bikes are good for the price? As in they are cheap but still a good bike?

On a side note, I wonder if there is enough interest to have motorcycle forum.
