100/300 coverage with Farmers (I had USAA, but switched -- long story) 1000 deduct...

$70 per month, $423 for 6 months. And this is actually more than I paid for my WRX wagon that I recently sold...

The biggest thing people should note here is that age is a HUGE factor, as is location.

my age: 28/M... Location, just outside of Portland Oregon.

Insurance does suck if you're young. However, it's a game like any other. You can call around for the best rates. It helps if you've had insurance for over a year but most companies don't really check. I've done a lot of research regarding insurance so just some friendly advice for all you high payers.

1) When asked if you've had previous insurance, it counts if you've been listed on your parents policy.

2) Take advantage of all the discounts offered including: Theft devices, Alarms, Good Student, Airbags. Just ask them to list it and take advantage of the ones you have.

3) Shop around and move from company to company. It's true that you can brand loyalty but usually after 1 - 2 years. However, switching companies usually nets you a 10 - 20 % discount.

4) If you get a ticket, don't tell your insurance company. You aren't required to do so and they only check during renewal time. Some companies only check once a year.

5) Insure the car in cheap locations if you live somewhere expensive ( Brooklyn, Bronx). It's not insurance fraud because where you live does not have to be where the car is insured. I insure my car at school in bumble f**k and its a lot cheaper.

That's all the advice for now, gotta get back to finals studying.

I'm 21, 2001 Black Civic, One ticket. Paying $1260/ year with geico. Before I turned 21, it was $2800/year.

Of course, the older you are, the older your car, the cheaper your insurance. Most important thing is to do research, especially if money is important to you.

How can you afford that... You could buy a new civic every 2 years with those rates

I thought my 300 a month was bad (though I do have a perfect driving record)

Dude!! You're getting absolutely RAPED! My wife and myself, her being a new driver (6 mos.) Full coverage, 1 mil liability, 250 deductable, $3k a year. Without my wife, all that for me would be $1200/year. That's with one speeding ticket, going down the hill on 16th ave at Deerfoot (you know where I'm talking about) and an accident about 2-1/2 years ago. I'm with Progressive Insurance, and they did wonderful work for me, cause with my old company, they wanted about what your company did for me and my wife, $720/month. So my advice is SHOP AROUND. There is always a better deal out there man.

1994 Integra GS-R
AAA
1 60/40 accident (my fault)
1 speeding ticket
$500 deductible on comprehensive and collision

$6895/year

it's a good thing I don't really pay that .....I'm listed as primary on my dad's 92 Explorer with liability I pay $3400 a year, my dad is primary on my GS-R and he is paying 1700 a year...unfortunately i pay for both insurances so I'm still paying a good $5100 a year but I'm still saving 1700 ......
