trolling the SRT4 forum
Not a Flame-Leave the Flame suit at home!!!
Hi Guys I saw this post and thought I should reply. I do not own a SRT-4 but I have been a member of that site for quite awhile. There have been many misconceptions about the SRT-4 since it first debued in Detriot.
Dodge has been building Turbo'ed cars for almost 20 years even before the GLH. The motor that is currently in the SRT-4 has been in use in Mexico and in other countries for a couple years before it made its way to the SRT-4. The motor has also been used in setting the land speed record for the fastest 4 cyl motor in the world topping out at close to 200 something miles an hour on the salt flats (if I can find the article I will post it).
2003 Stock SRT-4 215hp 230tq no LSD (Hp numbers are correct tq maybe underrated)
2004 Stock SRT-4 230hp 250tq w/LSD (Hp numbers are correct tq maybe underrated)
Top speed of the SRT-4 as goverened by the CPU is 153mph.
Okay enough with the specs on the car. Build quality is not an issue as it was with the first gen neons. From what I have read the problem with the 1st gens were bad head gaskets. It seems that a lot of the problems with the SRT-4s is when people start ****ing with their cars messing with boost and throwing codes or taking it to the track and burning a clutch. If you take any car to the track and beat on it, its going to not be happy. The motor has been proven to hold well over 450hp on stock internals I believe there was a thread showing that it was holding 700hp on stock internals on the Drag SRT-4.
Some people here seem to think that the SRT-4 is made for straight line driving. There is a race called "One lap of America" this shows the SRT-4 beating EVOs, WRXs, Porches and such in an actual race in the twisties. Out of 100 cars or so the SRT-4 placed 8th overall in points.

Thats just the first 20 to throw up some proof that I am not lying or posting crap.
The comment about the FASTEST CAR EVAR!!! was acutally a quote from a troll. This quote is now used as sarcasim anytime a new troll comes on the board bad mouthing the SRT-4 (usually they bring it up). It has stuck for a very long time and we can seem to get ride of it because people repost it from old posts and then we get huge flame wars about it. Oh and someone quoted Jammer about going 195 and drafting 4 other SRT-4s and such. If you read the whole posed and didnt just take it out of context you would have know he was being sarcastic to a Troll.
I will admit we have a few idiots on our board just as there are on other boards. We even flame each other when some 16year old kid hops on and starts bragging about beating a car that would kill us when he is stock (sometimes they dont even have a car). Some people just want attention and there is really nothing we can do about it.
Dont hate on the srt-4 its a good car (I test drove one and loved it). Lastly don't be so quick to say that americans cant build a car that will last. My Z24 has 159k miles and I have yet to have a problem. I have had serveral american cars which I can add if you want as proof that has lasted well beyond 100k miles and are still running. Had a CRX too which was a good little car.
Flame away if you must but id be open to a spirited conversation of questions.

2004 SRT-4s MSRP 21,995 as low as 19k
Dont forget these cars come with a good warranty and a STAGE 1 and 2 kit that are factory warrantied.
SRT4GURL has about 1500.00 in her 2003 and her best time was 12.69 in the 1/4 mile. The upgradability of this car is awesome.
We have a vender making a turbo upgrade for the car for around 2400-3000 bucks that will yield around 400whp (ofcourse that will void the warranty
) This is the most rediculous post i have ever read, how can you call srt-4 owners ricers? YOU OWN A HONDA. Some of you are ricers some of them are ricers, but why stereotype? Jesus everyone has different oppinons of what looks good, and what they want out of the car, if they wanted a ****ing honda they would have bought one, but did they? Obviously not. If i wanted a honda i would own one, and if i wanted a neon i would have one of those too.

Ok, nothing against the srt-4, but the ONE LAP results must also be put in context.
The srt-4 was one of the only cars in the competition with factory backing and mopar employed drivers. Everyone else were independants and had to come up with their own support and repair equipment, whereas the srt-4 had the benefits of factory sponsorship and parts and support....
Not to steal anything from the results or the good finish, but the srt-4 did have somewhat of an unfair funding and support advantage over the competition.

As for the driver yes he was a Dodge employee who if I remember correctly volunteered to drive the car and had to take vacation days to do it since Dodge could not sponer him since that was not allowed.

Guys dont get me wrong I am trying to clear up a few things so we can stop the hating and get with the appreciating. I had a 91 Honda CRX with tons of mods and a motor swap (the SOHC VTEC cant remember the engine code). It was a great car. Just didnt have the ballz and I didnt have the cash to Turbo it. I dont look down at Hondas at all I do look down on the mantality that if its not a Honda/Acura its a piece of crap.
Its that single minded mantality that will leave you at the starting line eating someone elses dust either by another import or domestic.
