It's my frist time autocrossing like I said befor and I was just wondering if anyone has tips on it, I am taking all the ex weight out of my car like spair tire, taking all the tooks out, putting my steal rims on, I did the heater bypass on so my cold air intake work better. Is there anything else I can do befor ripping apart my car??
I only have a cold air intake, fornt sway bar busing, progress rear sway bar, all the sturt bars, ROH wheels

Sorry, I have never been autocrossing so I have no input other than the above.

Adjust your seat correctly, make sure your tires are inflated. Drive smoothly, look far ahead. Maybe time it so that you have a near-empty tank of gas.
Make sure there's nothing to fly around the interior, uh clean your windshields I guess.
I don't autox, but I used to hang around autox heavy boards, and that's what I can remember.

I autoX a bit. Here's what I learned from my experience.
1) Learn the course. Memorize it. Live it. Breath it. Make sweet love to it and it will treat you well.
2) Inflate your wheels. 45 psi in front and 35 in back. Yes, I said 45. I didn't believe it either, but after I saw the tire roll... trust me, 45.
3) Chalk up your tires to check for wheel roll
4) When AutoXing, you're either on the gas or the brake. Gas as long as you can, then threshold brake (but don't don't don't lock up).
5) Try to keep your wheels on the ground and try not to slide around the turns.
6) Don't spin your wheels in the launch
7) Before you run it, walk the track and be sure to think about what gears you're gonna be using. For our cars, we're usually pinned in 2nd unless there is a huge straightaway.
8) Show up with between 1/4 - 1/2 a tank of gas.
9) Give your clutch time to cool down so you don't burn it too badly.
10) I don't do this, but my friend take his seatbelt and twists it like 500 times before he buckles it in. That way, he does not budge when he's going through the turns.
11) If you don't do that, then do what I do. Keep your seat mostly upright and kinda slam the gas or the clutch. In any given turn for me, one of those two is on the floor, so I can use it to push myself against the back of my seat.
Well, that's all I can think of. Good luck and have fun. PM me if you got any questions. I think XYZ AutoX's with the SCCA Solo II, so you could probably ask him too.

Hmmm Thought of some others...
- Turn off music and listen to engine
- Run to reds
- don't worry about accidently hitting your wipers, everyone does it
- Check out the SCCA homepage, they have great tips on AutoXing. Everything you need is there.

I put my front tire pressure to 45 psi like he said, but I put my rears to 40. There are tricks to help out, but if this is your first time, not to sound rude but you really just need to learn how to drive in that situation. The very best advice is 'Don't get discouraged.' I was dead last at my first AutoX, I even lost to a pick up truck. But then I went on to win the H-stock class for '01 and '02 in my region. It just takes practice.
These are all good tips. Remember, (especially when its your first time) mods aren't going to really make much difference...
The biggest things are knowing/learning the track, tire pressure, and having your seat set correctly. I came to eventually find that I liked my Sentra SE-R better with the spare and jack in the rear, because it helped a little more with the balance.
Also, depending on your mileage, you might want to check your brakes... I had a friend once get only one run in before his pads went metal to metal... Silly, but it could ruin your day.
The more you do, the better you will get. Also, you'll come to find how important DOT tires and a harness are for doing really well in a stock class

Hmmm... Autocross, Probably the most fun you'll ever have with 4 tires.
To prevent me from writeing a book on the subject Ill post a link to a site Dedicated to Autocross/ Solo II events
http://www.autocross.com/autoc/started.htm
have fun at your first event, and don't get discuraged if you get beaten by everyone and their mothers.
I'm kinda an Autocross Junkie, PM me if you have any specific questions.

Hmm, I guess some of us must have defective cars... my 01 LX Auto stays in 2nd, and ONLY 2nd when the selector is in 2... It starts in 2nd, redlines 2nd...
Leaving it in D3 runs up and down gears 1,2, and 3...
Cambo, what year model automatic do you have that lets your car go into first when the selector is in 2nd?

thats not true. by leavinf it in d2, you do not allow ur car to fo bast 2nd gear. you still have 1st gear to drive in.

I think all 7thgen Autos are like this...
there's no D2! there's just: P, R, N, D, D3, 2 ... selecting 2 will just leave you in 2nd gear (just two! no first gear at all!)... and as for the "Drive" selections, all gears are used except for when you're in D3 (where 4 is ommited... but no change in shifting style...)...
so that's why i said leave it in "2" in autox and when you're in the need for 1st or 3rd gear (i doubt you'll need 4th) quickly shift into D3 punch down the gas and when you need to stay in 2nd shift it back to "2"...

ding ding ding! Correct
I dont know what kinds of autocrosses you guys have in your area, but when I did it in Austin TX in the early 90s, there were some tracks where speeds reached 80mph...
for the most part, the computer is smart enough to shift down as needed, so leaving it in D3 is probably the best bet.
Since its not a standard, its a bit harder to match the revs, which is important for long gearbox life...
In most autocrosses that are small and short, You probably wont get out of 2nd gear, and anything you might gain by holding it in 2nd, you would probably lose by popping the shift lever into D3 or D4, and hoping to get a first gear downshift.
