What does everyone think of this car? It sort of reminds me of a baby 745.

It's a nice car. The only thing I don't like on this and the 7-series is the tail end. It just doesn't look.....right . I mean, the taillights and trunk lid. They kinda look like an afterthought. Like someone designed the car, then said "Oh, right! It needs taillights." I'm not saying that I wouldn't drive it, I'm just saying that it looks a little odd.

The body of the car will have to grow on me, I'd like to see it in some other colors with a diff color interior to make a better judgement. I take it they will also make the M5 on that same frame then? It looks like they are trying to merge a concept and a normal car with some classic BMW styling and some rather odd and unique ones. I don' really like the styling of the head or tail lights or the huge antenna (or maybe its for the gps navi) thing on the center of the back part of the roof. As always though, I def like to wheels (bmw always has the best stock wheels.. i'd still replace them but they are still very nice) The interior seems a little bland for BMWs 5 series but i still like it.

obtix,
THe M's ushually dont come out for a year or two after a new body style is introduced. The original M3 (E30) was produced till 1991, 2 years after the E36 3 series was introduced. then they switched up to the E36 M3.

the only things i dont like about the new design are the lights (all of them) and the way they redesigned the kidney grill.
the front lights arent that bad i guess...except for the part that overestends to the fenders/sides. but the tails just look off. i think they should have kept the cluster just in the rear instead of putting some of the tails to the sides. it just doesnt have a continuity of lines like the last/current gen have.
the steering wheel is nice tho...hehe

I like the front lights of the car, but the rears are kinda weird. Also the side body lines look like an accord with the high set trunk. The inside is nice, but again, it is BMW. I like the rounded lights they have now better.
i think it's okay... i mean it is a bimmer... but sometimes i think they're trying to use that as an excuse and get away with crappy designs... and we're still eating it all up and saying it's dope

I guess I am the only one who TOTALLY loves this car. I fell in LOVE with the new 7-series and when I heard that the new 5-series was gonna look just like it...OMG! When I have a family, that's gonna be my car...till then M3 baby!
New Bimmer designs are flat-out ugly. Its one thing to be avante garde, its another to make designs that just don't flow.
I don't like this high-tech junk like the I-drive or big HUD's. If I wanted high-tech, I'll stick to my computer. On the road I just want a car that's fun and agile, with all the high-tech stuff hidden under the sheet metal. A car for young and budding technophiles, and I don't dig it.
The new 7 series, the Z4 and this ...eesh. The upcoming 6 series looks sorta cool, but the rest of the "future design" cars are disasterous.

To the people that think its ugly, im sure it will grow on you. Mostly everyone says the same thing when a new body style is released on a current production car. I felt the same about the civic, and the accord and I like both of them now...Im sure in time you will like the BMW too.

when i saw the 7thgencivic for the first time on a super street magazine i thought the future for the honda civic was over. i thought it was the ugliest focus imitation ever. then i started seeing it on the freeway and one year later im an owner of a 2002 honda civic. i dont really like the headlights and how the rear door line just comes kinda up...the tails, everyone is saying that BMW is not very traditional in their tailight design but the 7thgen tail is non traditional of the previous civic tails. i think this car has to be seen on the freeway/road and at some local BMW meets around my house, then ill prolly appreciate it

I used to like the BMW but ever since the new body styles have been coming out for the 5 and 7 series, it just doesn't appeal to me anymore. I'm still digging the M3 though.

To say that it'll grow on me is like saying the Pontiac Aztek will grow on you. Cars I think are ugly will stay ugly. Accord's weird, and its still weird. I like how my Civic looked from day one.
Its not a case of "getting used to." The styling just doesn't do it for me.
