Question Anyone know about this?

Ok, the RSX-S is in a different car insurance bracket than our economy Civics. If you do perform the engine swap on our civics do you have to inform your insurance? Will this cause you to have to pay more insurance per month if you do it?

Would the same apply for a turbo?

isn't that kinda the point of insurance? to have it in case of an accident? lol

anyways, most companies will cover your engine swap, if you let them know. there more than likely will be an increase in your premium.

They cover the whole car.
It will stay in the same insurance bracket.
If you do a swap keep the receipts of the engine and such.
Also take pictures, like you wouldn't pictures! of course you would.
That way you have proof that the engine is in the car.

It would still be in the Civic's bracket, but if you want to have any coverage for it, you'd have to tell them about it (swap or turbo.) The premium will go up because the car is modded and they assume it's work and work = money. This swap should cost more because 1) it's on a new car 2) it's a new engine 3) it's for performance. The reason you don't see classic Corvette owners worrying about it is because they often go through classic car insurance companies. Sorry, our Civics don't qualify.

You can go without telling them, but if you ever get in an accident and damage the engine, the will only replace your car with a stock engine. If you tell them about it, chances are your premium will rise, but if you ever totalled your car, they should reimburse you for the swap.

If you let your insurance know they will most likely raise your rates. If you don't let them know and your car gets stolen or an in accident they will not cover it.
