Rolling Back When Stopped?
I have an automatic and when I stop and let off the brake I have major issues with rolling back. And we're not talking on steep hills either. I haven't had any of my other auto's roll back like this one and was wondering if there was something I could do to fix it???

Its suppose to idle below 1000 rpms, somewhere between 750 +/- 50 rpms I believe is the range you want.
If your talking about adjusting the throttle cable, becareful since if you make it to high your adding stress to your torque converter. It would be like doing a mini torque brake when your stopped.
I thought a saw a TSB or memo about the rolling back from Honda... hrrmph.

I don't have an automatic, but I always use the e-brake when I'm stopped on a hill. Why not just use the e-brake? I don't know how much of a hill an automatic 7th gen Civic can handle without rolling back, but there is a limit I'm sure. Use the e-brake. It might not be a problem, unless it changed since you bought the car. If it's always been like that then that's just the way it is.

yea, use the ebrake if your praking on a hill. I dont think you would use your ebrake on a hill if you were still planning on takeing off. That would be really stupid. You can do it but why? Usually auto's dont roll back to much so you might want to go get that checked out at your honda dealership.
i don't know if mine's normal--i hope so--but when i stop (and i have an auto) and then take my foot off the brake, i usually either inch forward or stay. there's this one small hill i stop at every day, and it's relatively steep (not exactly san francisco, but it's pretty noticeable). when i stop there, my car just stays. so i don't think it's normal for it to be rolling back if your not really steep. well, that's my experience. hope it helps

mine does it too, i always thought it was because i beat the ish out of the tranny, did you know if you are going foward and you shift your car into reverse, it will not go on reverse until you hit about 5mph?
Hmmm, well I've had quite a few automatics before and I've never had it do this so bad before, so I just wanted to check and make sure what was going on. As for the TSB....what does that mean? Sorry, I'm new and don't know much about cars... =(

If im on a slight incline i can take my foot off the gas and sometimes it will either say there or start to roll back a little. I remember one time not too long after i got the car and i was on a huge hill i let my foot off the brake and before i could step on the gas i almost rolled back into the car behind me. I think its normal, unless your car will not go forwards or backwards like it always has then why worry about dumb things like this.
Its a Technical Service Bulletin (not a recall!)... so, basically its just a characteristic of the car... The TSB actually referred to a Honda newsletter mentioning this trait.
