Somewhat impressed.... VTEC
I have a 2003 Civic EX Coupe (5-speed with the vtec). While driving on the interstate today in 5th, I down shifted into 4th to pass a truck... I wasn't going that fast to begin with so normally 4th wouldn't have much more pickup then 5th but i'm gonna guess my vtec kicked in, in 4th gear around 3.5rpms and it had a VERY nice pickup! Very impressed with high pickup on the car, could use much more from the line!

Thats one complaint.. They should add traction control to the EX models or something. I'll slip on anything in that car. But oh well.. Its still not even close to as fast as my two other cars (2001 Acura TL or Volvo 850 Turbo) but the civic gets the job done.

i have never ridden in a manual with tcs but in autos... there is a considerable loss of power, if youve ridden in toyotas... they seem really slow... what you need is new tires, and suspension to stop wheelhop
I just want my Ex...
I just want my EX to be faster.... this 127hp thing is really starting to aggrivate me... I am going to have to hold onto the car for a couple of years.. but I don't want to monster my resell value.

When did Honda make 3500 RPMS the point where VTEC comes on??? I think whatever model Civic you have, VTEC or non, nothing really happens below 3000 anyhow.

IF you do the VTEC LED DIY, you will see that VTEC comes on more like 1800 rpms and at 15-20mph.
It continues to stay on if you drive agressively.
And after 63mph and 3K rpms VTEC will continualy stay on.
If you can feel VTEC kick in on a SOHC you are full of sh*t.

First off I was in traffic (doing about 60) and I didnt know for sure that the VTEC kicked in.. I was just saying I was impressed with the pickup my car had in 4th.
For all the ppl who say that they can't feel their vtec...well for my AUTO, when I put it into 2 I could feel the pickup (literally) I get pulled back into my seat! Y'all should try that...forgot at what rpm it starts to kick in but I'll make sure to check next time.
