RX-7 Re Release
Anyone hear anything about it besides:
The new RX-7
The new RX-7 has been confirmed as “coming soon”, by a lot of industry folks and automotive publications. We cannot confirm this, but RN does know that a product has been developed and is being considered for production, but there are no firm production plans yet. But, based on our limited information and insight, gathered at a few press events and talking to industry people, here are a few predictions and thoughts on the new RX-7.
Larger displacement RENESIS motor with possible forced induction.
300+hp regardless of the motor being N/A or turbo/super charged.
Lightweight (less than 2800lbs)
Extremely high handling limits
Unique styling and design
No compromises
Mazda understands that any new vehicle carrying the RX-7 moniker will have live up to the 3rd generation FD RX-7. We have actually been told as much by key Mazda people. They understand all of the shortcomings, and more importantly, the streghtens of the FD, and will/have addressed and/or improved on them, as to not make the same mistakes twice. The new RX-7 will be a car designed and built with the spirit of the FD, through and through!

why are you skeptical
they have the rx-8 coming out. actually i believe they are trying ot put out more vehicles with the rotary motor so they can make more money off of it so they can do more R&D on it, since it is a superior motor to the pistion motor

blah blah blah, sorry but no you are wrong. First off the rx-8 is coming out at the end of May, or so the salesman said, and secondly it IS the rx-8 and not what i am talking about. But you're price range is correct.
Apparently you did read the article i posted. It is the RERELEASE of the rx-7 not the crappy rx-8 thats coming out. They may call it the rx-9 i'm not sure

FI= forced induction
Forced induction + Rotary= heat, bad O ring, bad radiator, and more such as cooltant leaking in (requires a rebuild or new engine), over heated exhaust manifold... but I read somewhere that the Renises can be turboed.

ok i've read another article. says with advances in technology that the new rx-7 should be 240-250HP NA. Has larger intake and exhaust ports, and that mazda actaully had to, get this, DETUNE the motor to get those HP ratings. Mazda said that they have made this motor for the tuners and that they intentionally put restrictive intake and exhaust with the intention that tuners would be able to get serious HP gains from boltons.
Even though it is normally aspirated, it still produces wel over 280 horsepower at 9,000 rpm. Not only does it make more power than the old twin turbocharged engine, it's also more fuel efficient and produces less emissions. Compared to the old engine, the Renesis is 40 percent more fuel efficient at idle. Mazda also says the Renesis will qualify for the stringent new emission standards soon to be implemented in Japan.
The Renesis also features many other improvements. A new three-stage induction system employs variable induction tracts that feed into six ports (three for each rotor chamber) to improve the efficiency of how much air is moved into the engine. The Renesis' rotors weigh less than previous designs by 14 percent. As such, the engine's rev limit is 10,000 rpm<--------WOW!!!. There's also a new wet-sump lubrication system that is lighter and smaller.

How much quicker, faster, and more exciting would a two-seat version be? If Mazda brass decides that the RX-8 is a success, it could approve a new RX-7 two-seater for '06. The car on the drawing boards will have a wheelbase 11.8 inches shorter, weigh 330 pounds less than the RX-8, and get a significant bump to 280 or 330 horsepower. Styled with a low hoodline, it'll be either a conventional coupe or a retractable hardtop. Stay tuned.
*That HP is NA imagaine that motor with a turbo*

I just asked a guy who lives 2 doors down who drives a black 95 rx-7 and he said he heard rumors about another gen coming out soon.
I've heard the same rumors over a year ago. It's basically going to be a 2-door version of the RX-8. That is, it's based on the RX-8 platform but with a more potent rotary motor and different sheetmetal. At least that was the rumor last year.

no turbo's just like the new z it will be more refined and faster without fi. also expect to see a new supra if there is a new rx-7. the rx-8 is not the replacement for the rx-7 so NO it wont be called rx-9. and like someone said DE-TUNED ENGINE

Mazda execs made a point of telling the media last year that the RX-8 was not meant to replace the RX-7. That can only mean that there is room for a possible return of the RX-7. I'd certainly like to see that.

jus so you ppl know....the rx-7 had engine problems because of the twin turbo design. many tuners replace the twin turbo set-up with one rather big turbo and are fine putting out big numbers. just an FYI
