Civic Type-R Coming to the U.S.!!!
JDM Civic type-R------------->CLICK HERE
I don't see what all the fuss is about. It's nearly an Si with a Type S engine/tranny in it and a body kit that's probably in a heavier chassis than the Si. A stock JDM DC5R closes in at nearly 3,000 lbs, which is over 200lbs heavier than a Type S and is about 200lbs more than an Si! What's gonna be so special about the Civic Type R other than a few cosmetic enhancements to increase sales? And it WILL sell because it is a HYPE R with a Hype S engine in it. For 19k-20k... it would sell off the lot, wouldn't it?

Personally for myself, pricing is going to be key. If the MSRP is going to be between $19-20k I'll definitely look into one. However, if the prices moves much above the $20k level then there are other options that I would certainly consider more attractive than the CTR. Personally, I like the look of the hatch, even though alot of people don't, but not enough to spend say $24k on one.

Yes if the price is around 19-20k Many people will be consider it (17" rim, type-s engine, better suspension and type r body kit)[hr]

If the price goes above $20,000, I'd just go grab a VW GTI 1.8T and chip it.
A chipped 1.8T VeeDub has almost 2x the torque of the Type R at a little less that half the revs. NICE!

i serioursly doubt they will bring it here... if they ever did bring the CTR to the USA, i doubt they would keep the Si!
i mean, would honda really wanna take the risk of having 2 ugly hatches out there?(well, not ugly to me, i love the look of the new hatch, i'm just speakin for the majority)... personally, i dont think honda will ever bring the CTR to the U.S.... and i wouldnt beleive this rumor becuz ppl have been talkin about bringin the CTR to the U.S. since the first year they started makin the B16b's.

Initially, I was like "cool a real type R in the states!" But thinking about it, and reading sonicivic's post, I don't think its a big deal.
Its just an Si with a type S engine/tranny, 17" rims and some suspension tuning (which will be less tuned than a JDM since Japanese ppl like their cars stiffer). Why not just get an RSX type S?
The allure of the Type R for me was the 220 HP engine and the LSD. It has neither. It sounds like its going to be a type S in an Si's body.
Motor Trend was right in that the present Si's a piece of junk. But I'd prefer that they bring the Integra Type R (RSX type R) to the states. Those things look sooo nice when you see it in person. One was always parked near the university I was studying at in Kyoto, and man its eye-catching.

A Civic Type R chassis is actually quite different than an Si chassis. A Type R chassis has special staplings on it to keep the body rigid. (Same with the GS-R and Type R... which is one reason why no matter what, it'll always be a GS-R.)
