wow you got your years screwed up. US only got Integra Type R's in 1997, 98, 2000 and 2001. Canada got lucky and got a 1999. As for Civic Type R's they were only made 96-00. We never even got them over here and they had B16's not B18's.

I actually think that the Civic Type-R doesn't look to bad from certain angles. And the 17's make it look SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than the 15's from the stock Si. I wonder what Honda was smoking when they chose to use 15's on the Si.
Off the subject of my post, EPHatch isn't too happy about the CTR

I'm confused
IF the CTR hatch comes what is going to happen to the RSX-S??
Is Acura now competing with Honda?
And WTF is going to happen to the SI? People will stop buying that thing for sure and just save up some money to get the TYPE R since the TYPE R comes with so many goodies

I would think that if it was an April fools joke, they wouldn't have printed it. The new company that Motor Trend is owned by usually doesn't screw around. And many people are saying that they won't believe it just because it's printed in a magazine, and that's fine. But if you ask me, Motor Trend has MUCH more credibility than anyone on this forum, or a thread saying "HONDA, BRING US THE TYPE-R!!!". If anything, maybe Motor Trend gave Honda a shove in the right direction, because Honda knows the Si was a flop, and Honda's not used to flops. It'll be interesting to see what happens, that's for sure...but I'm staying hopeful! .
If you got a yugo( wich I actually saw one today...the first one I have seen in like 15 years) that had 220hp and did 0-60 in 6 seconds...would you want it? The engine may
be better..the suspension might be stiffer...but a polished, faster turd is still a turd. I hate the way the hatch looks. I dont care if it has 300hp. It's still ugly. The only good will
come from me being able to get the engine for a lot less. That makes me

I think the CTR makes some visual improvements over the Si, so at least it is bareable to look at. It has kind of grown on me over the past few months, though not enough to make it "beautiful", or anything close to it. But still, I'd buy it

My 15 year old brother is goin crazy. He wanted an Si and now since the Type R's are comin he is gonna beg my mom for one and he'll probably get it when he turns 16 this November All I'm gonna say is that Motor Trend said the same thing in October of '01, and they said that both the Civic and RSX Type-R's would be here within a year. Believe it all you want, but i don't believe a damn word of it until Honda confirms it. Also, the moment Honda confirms it is the moment I start saving
Minivan or not, I would love to have one.

Anyway, here's Matt's theory: CTR has never been here, this is true... But before the ep hatch, it seems like there has NEVER been a problem selling an si before, so maybe they are bringing the ctr here anticipating that it will bring more revenue... I mean, we all know they would sell, if not like hot-cakes, than at least better than the current si (which I happen to like).
Anyway, just a hypothesis...
I'll believe it when I see it, but personally I don't like the look and my plans are still for the New accord coupe once the miles get up on the ride. HEHE going to love to see the insurance on it if it comes here, better not leave it alone
Yeah I haven't heard one honda person say anything about the R, plus they told me they are going to continue the SI hatch.

This brings me to an interesting question... Used 2002 Maxima which i think you could find for about the same amount of money as the Type-R off the lot. mmmm VQ power. you could get a 2000 or 2001 in prime condition for sure.
what do you all think would be the better buy?

Well here are my 2cents. The CTR will sell a million times better than the Si. All you really have to do is put the R badge on just about anything and it will sell. There were a few questions as to competing with the RSX-S. Yes they do have the same HP and Tqe numbers (roughly). But the S is still the more luxureous of the 2 and not the pure-bred racing machine. CTR's are for the purist and the S is for the normal person. I think that the market for each is differentiated enough to legitimize having both here in the states. I seriously hope they do put the LSD in it, cause its a damn R! But I wont be purchasing it. I would love to have a CTR, but if I'm going to purchase one, I will make sure that the extra money that I'm spending goes towards the real thing and not some detuned version that the American market will eat up. I want the 217ps motor, LSD, Recaros, Brembos, stereo blocked out. If they bring it here with all of that, then tell me where to sign up....until then I'll spend my extra cash that I saved on buying the Si and purchase a Turbo. After all $15k for an Si is a hell of a deal compared to a R for $25k....

Yea, and look at the price of that engine. With the CTR coming to the states, this will make more engines available.
