My 2000 SI Vtec kick in at about 4900 rpm my friends Type R starts kickin in about 4800 really close together yet, the Type R always stays in Vtec in every gear from 1st to 5th gear thats tha advantage...Si loses its Vtec and has to climb its RPM's again around 3rd gear, also my girlfriend has a 03 EX and well if u consider 127 VTEC appealing then go head anyways...I drive it a lot and never feel it kick it....to me its jus WEAKTEC never VTEC[hr]

That’s interesting, considering MY 2000 Si's VTEC change over is at 5500... As is every other stock 99/00 USDM Honda Civic Si. ALSO, the USDM ITR's B18C5 engine's VTEC change over occurs @ ~5800 RPM. Don’t believe me?
2000 Civic Si w/ stock VTEC engagement point:

Stock USDM ITR:

Do you have one of those "magic" B16A2s' with a 4900 RPM activation, or are you stupid enough to activate VTEC that low with a VAFC or something of the sort? If you did, I bet that s**t bogs REAL good.
We all know how hard the car pulls after the high cams kicks in in VTEC mode....one would always wonder," What if VTEC kicks in at 2000 rpm....wouldn't that be nice?"
VTEC is actually having two cam profiles. For normal driving, there is the normal cam profile which gives very good midrange and low rpm power. However, for more aggressive driving....that is where VTEC comes to play. What a VTEC engine does is, it engages high cams (VTEC switchover) to a more aggressive cam profile. Thus engaging a different set of fuel maps and ignition maps to extract more power...
So in theory, if VTEC is engaged earlier, the car would produce more power earlier....thus making the car go faster? ...Well, this is not entirely true.
If one installs a VTEC controller, the VTEC will engage at the new set point regardless of whether the ECU is running in open or closed- loop mode... and this is not good. Why? Read on...
The fact against shifting the VTEC point lower (or higher) than factory specs, is that although you can use some S-AFR/S-AFC device to correct the fuel MAP, you still cannot do the IGNITION advance/retard MAP, so while the VTEC controller has prematurely engaged VTEC, the ECU is still running on the IGNITION MAPS suited for low-cam/pre-VTEC mode. Same goes if you shift the VTEC point higher than factory spec, the ECU will use the high-cam IGNITION MAPS while your engine is still physically running on the low cams. Either case is bad for the engine.
Also, I NEVER "fall out of VTEC" when shifting at my fuel cut. And this is with stock gearing and VTEC engagement.
You OBVIOUSLY don’t have a 6th gen Si, nor does your "friend" have an ITR. Please shut your poser troll *** up and sit the FUCK DOWN!
