short oil change question
Hey,
I have a 2002 Civic EX.. and in the maintenance booklet thing I got w/ the car, it says the first oil change should come at 8,000 km or 4 months, whichever comes first.. well in about 20 days it'll be 4 months, and by that time I probably will only have a little over 4,000 km on the car..
Do you think it's worthwhile to still get the oil changed even after so little kilometers?
I probably don't even have much choice in the matter because of warranty issues.. they probably wouldn't like it if they found out I didn't follow their schedule..

I would wait until you got to the set milage. That stupid month limit is there so you go in and pay them to change it. As long as you're driving the car, the oil shouldn't go bad. And you don't have to follow their "schedule", you can change your oil whereever and when ever you want to. It has no bearing on the warranty as long as the oil does get changed in a reasonable time frame (if its due every 4K, but you get it done at 5 or 6, it won't make a difference, but if you take it in and it hasn't been done in 12K, you may have problems with the warranty. You could change it, but it's a waste.
Man, you could change your oil every single day if you wanted to. It really doesn't matter. But if you don't change it every day, do change it according to what your book says in order to keep your warantee valid.
yea make sure you get a good brand name oil too, dont get quaker sludge or anything off like that..
