the guy should really post what price he wants to stay in. the g wagon is great. it has 5 differentials that you can lock and unlock and that is always good.

My 3 choices would be 4-Runner, 4-Runner, and finally, 4-Runner. My parents recently bought a '99 with 75K miles and it is a very impressive vehicle. It has plenty of room, more than sufficient power, and build quality that no American hunk of crap can touch. Do yourself a favor and at least test drive one before you make a decision. By the way, they paid $14,000 USD for theirs, and it is a SR5 4WD model.

Ok this guy (like us) drives a Civic and I doubt an Escalade, or Cayenne is a realistic purchase. So, realistically speaking, I'd consider a 4Runner, Pathfinder, or even *gasp* a Jeep Grand Cherokee

we were looking at the Escalade before we got the Trailblazer but the price was a bit higher and all your really paying for is the name ...Plus the Trailblazer came with a DVD player for the rear seats which was a nice feature (i'm not sure but I don't think the Escalade has that option) ...... The Acura MDX and the New Nissian are nice SUV's as well

Consumer Reports ranks the Toyotal 4 Runner and the Nissan Pathfinder "Best Buys". I prefferably would take the 4 Runners myself.

i like the Pilots and CRVs, but i also like the new Land Rovers, the Freelanders, and they're pretty cheap, compared to the disco or range.

suvs are good for one thing only - driving off road.
i had a suzuki samurai, but i traded for my civic.
if i was worried about traction in snow, i would get a subaru wrx.
if i was going drive straight up a mountain i'd get another samurai, or maybe a cj.
i think modern-day 3-ton suvs are pretty useless and make me want to , but they are very profitable for automakers. but if i had to drive one... porsche cayenne.

Since you don't mention a price, I would have to go with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. There's no sweeter SUV than that.

I would definately go with the new Honda Pilot. Just go and sit in it, you'll know what i mean. I actually feel like a Pilot. And it drives so nice. But if you wanna up the price a bit, go with the classic Navigator (NIIIICE!)

actually the SUV's chevy produces are of high quality and look really sweet when done up .... if you want to go that route with a SUV....I wouldn't say the imports have a better quality, just different styling ....the Pilot is a fair size SUV that looks like it could be made by GM...I don't see how there played out?? The usually have the nicest interiors around and a ton of power.....

I'd never buy an SUV either. I see too many people (mostly soccer moms) who don't know how to drive them. Plus how could I go from my 35-40 mpg Civic HX to a 20 mpg (at best) SUV?

With that said, if I had to buy an SUV, I'd go with a CRV or Element (go Honda!).
