Rep Power: 389 it only voids it if they can prove that the aftermarket product caused the problem with the car.

Rep Power: 0 My warranty with CNA as the underwriter says they won't cover my car if any alteration is made to the drivetrain, exhaust, suspension, and wheelsize. I don't think my dealership cares though, they haven't said anything to me about it.

Rep Power: 0 My dealer told me it would but basically I just said ok and went and bought it anyways. But yes, unless they can prove it caused the problem you are trying to get repaired under warrenty they cannot void it. If they try, you can probably call Honda and get them to fix the problem. Some dealers are just ill-informed and on multiple occasions of asking my dealer I have gotten "yes it does", "no it doesnt", and "call Honda". So, just do it and tell them to suck it.

Rep Power: 0 The only time this doesn't apply is if it messes with you emissions systems, in which case I believe any manufacturer can void a warranty right off the bat.

Rep Power: 0 Taken from the SEMA website:
"The Law
Federal law sets forth requirements for warranties and contains a number of provisions to prevent vehicle manufacturers, dealers and others from unjustly denying warranty coverage. With regard to aftermarket parts, the spirit of the law is that warranty coverage cannot be denied simply because such parts are present on the vehicle, or have been used (see Attachment A). The warranty coverage can be denied only if the aftermarket part caused the malfunction or damage for which warranty coverage is sought. Disputes in this area usually boil down to arguments over facts and technical opinions, rather than arguments over interpretations of the law."
There's alot of useful information concerning this
here.
Basically, if the aftermarket part didn't cause the problem, then the dealership must honor your warranty.

Rep Power: 0 My dealer is selling a brand new TurboCharged Civic (the dealer tuned it up) for 32k$ CAN. I dunno if this car is still under warranty lol. But it should be since it comes from dealer.

Rep Power: 788 Also remember that it's not hard to prove that an intake caused a problem. A cold air intake is bolted to the tranny, while a short ram has the filter sitting on a metal mount. They could claim that the intake was shaking and caused problems.
The actual warranty, to be valid, states that ANY alterations of a mechanical nature will void the warrenty. I think it only voids the part that you replace. Such as, adding exhaust voids exhaust warrenty, since it's not connected to anything else.

Rep Power: 376 yeah ZetaR is right.... the dealership cannot void a factory warranty just because you mod your car. THEY have the burden of PROVING that the modified part was directly the cause of failure. Otherwise they can kiss your butt.
It's called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

Rep Power: 351 This topic has been beaten to death. The only way a part can void your warranty is if the dealer can prove that thats what caused the problem. UNless you have a great dealer. My dealer basically allows me to do anything i want to my car without voiding warrranty buts trying to find a dealer like that is tough. I searched for one before i bought the car. So its all about proof

If its AEM, it will pass smog as it is already CARB exempt, if you start going with like no name brands, that's where you will start to run into problems in terms of California smog.
But hey its not like I care either, Im runnin HP header with no cat...But a nice $50 bill will get me passed smog when it comes time to get it the car smoged in like 4 years....
