What is your civic worth?

I just need to know what the 2k1's are worth right now, so next year my 2k2 might be the same value. BTW, why Im asking this is because I talked to a salesman and he said that too trade it in on the 2nd year of lease so you gain around 1000$ or something. [EX] a 2k2 civic residual is 48% which is around 11,000$ or so, and by the 2nd year you have paid about 14,000$ including your down payment. Now when you trade it in, they compare the buyback value (which is how much you have left to pay) to the apraised value. Let's just say the car you want is 40,000$, so 11,000$ is your buyback to your apraised value is 12,000$. 11,000$ - 12,000$ = -1,000$. so now the car you want is 39,000$.

Do I have this right? for all those salesmen/salesladies

thx for your time

My civic *DX*: $13,000 (paid in full in Feb 2000)
Insurance per year: $2500 (Live in Jersey, licensed @ 17 years old, 2 Doors & Red in color)
Maintanance: $1700 and rising
Owning a 7th gen Civic before everyone else: Priceless...

now it dont really matter. As soon as parents and old people start driving a type of car, that car's rep pretty much goes down the drain. It's funny seeing rinkly chicks who so-obviously dye their hair blonde drive up in an RSX.

my car's everything to me! but if i wanted performance and value, I woulda gone with a wrx or something better.

Ummm...cars depreciate the most in the first 2 yrs. I don't understand what people want for a car that is only a year or two old. They expect it to be worth a $1000 less than they paid for it when it's being traded or sold at the time that ALL vehicles depreciate the most.

After the first few yrs the depreciation obviously continues but does so at a much lower rate.

I thought everyone knew this...

It's a mental thing with some people. They hit a tree at 50mph and get out and say the new civics dent easily...wtf?

I will probably not buy another brand new car. I plan on buying cars about 2 years old. The value of my car is probably right around what I owe on it. In the past I've bought new Civics, but with a huge down payment or cash outright, so depreciation didn't hurt me as much. The value my car had was mine, not the bank's.

Mbow, I understand the whole depreciation process....Believe me I do...I am just dissapointed in my 2k1 as a whole. The build quality isnt the same as past year hondas that I have owned. I really didnt think the car would be so low in value after owning it for 1 year and a half.

Well they handle plowing through snow sideways and hitting a little fence pole at 50mph without the alignment going off and with very minimal damage to the rear fender.

What did you pay for the car civicdude?

I paid $15996 for mine out the door. Kelly blue book says my "private party value" is $14, 435. That's only 10% in depreciation but even at the normal 15% it would be around $12,800 which I know I could get more than that for it.

Is your value the trade-in or private party value?

EDIT: BTW - mine is a 02 ex sedan 5spd, 11750 miles

Wow, I put on close to 20K miles on my car since I got it for 5900.00, and its resale value is at the moment $5,380 if I lowball it Not bad! Of course, it really has no relavance in this thread, but I thought I'd throw it out nonetheless

I don't trust Kelly's Blue Book one bit, they judge everything a lot lower than expectations. If you want a better idea of your car's value try Here its NADA online guides I think its better, they're not as detailed as KBB.com, but as far as I know NADA is the industry standard. I have a friend that works at a used car dealership and they swear by nada.

my 2k2ex coupes avg retail value is $15,500. maybe a little more becuz of my factory body kit & wing

I bought mine when it first came out...and to hear all these peepz wit plms wit there auto's...kinda sucks for them...i mashed out the dealer when i got my car and been slammin the pedals till this day...my car still humms along...and dammit, imma proud civic owner....a 7th gen civic owner at that!

I bought my car in June 2k1....I have a 2001 civic ex coupe 5 speed with spoiler....It now has 19,500 miles. I paid out the door after taxes $18,200.

Kelley Blue book says the car is worth around $12,500 or so...I forgot what I wrote before. I know you lose tax...and liscence and tage right away...so I guess you would say I paid $16,300 for my car before all that stuff. Im sure i can still get more for it...I have seen them in the paper for around $14,500.

I paid $12,900 for my new Honda Civic LX (2001). I owe about 10 right now... I'm thinking of trading it in for a 2002 Civic EX because there are still some new ones out there and it's dropped in price to make room for the '03's... Plus they're selling for about the same price for what I paid for mine. The Honda here has a buyback program that offered me $10,500 a couple months ago for it (of course, you'll have to trade it in for another Honda).
