Rep Power: 0 Questions concernng the 2001 Civic DX and 2000 Civic SI
Sup guys, I was hoping someone who knows a bit about both these cars could settle something for me. One of my friends just bought a used 2000 SI...after owning a much slower and much less attractive 98 Mirage. We are going to race both cars at Qualcomm when the races start back up again In Feb. this year. Anyway...out of three choices: 1- good chance 2 - slight chance 3 - no chance at all...which one would you pick? The race is between a 2001 Civic DX(stock, stick) VS. 2000 Civic SI(stock, stick). And..if I have no chance at all..what about if i lost my spare tire, and my back seats....while he left his in?

Rep Power: 0 If he doesn't know how to launch that high-strung to hay beast AND you are awesome at launching, you may beat him to 60.
If you are both good drivers then you won't have a chance. Like I said, just pray that he doesn't know how to launch.

otherwise 2 or 3
i raced a 2k si with my 2k1 ex u can read about it here.
edit: ak how do you expect to become a better driver if you dont race the "faster" cars.

anyway, yah ... in reply to pwned, the 2000 si is much better than the 7th gen civics. It's faster and lighter than the 2003 si's as well ... dohc and +45 hp does a lot for the car over a 7th gen dx. You raced a 6th gen si .. the other person must have not been a very good driver

Rep Power: 0 PwN3d..... your a loser man. obviously youv never raced a 99'-00' Si or you wouldnt be downing it. But as far as the "Race" if thats what you want to call it. The dx doesnt stand a chance in hell, youll need like a 100 shot just to make it interesting. And even then you shouldnt waste your gas, cause when your shifting the Si is coming into its peek power band. So i give you a 3. Sorry.............

Rep Power: 0 Race? I OWN a 2000 Si. This is how it brakes down.
No, you wont win on mechanics. That is to say, given equal drivers there is no way you are going to win. BUT, I've seen retards pull mid 16s in the 1/4 mile in moded Sis. SO, If he is a crappy *** driver and you are a very good driver, you could take the win. think about it this way... The reason, 99% of the time, for weak times with an Si is due to the inability to launch. Blowing the launch RELALLY kills the Sis ETs, and it has to play catch up in 3rd gear. Given that Qualcomm is an 1/8 mile track, this can be a SEVERE disadvantege (like I said, if he sucks *** at driving and or launching his car). This is your only hope. When and if you want to race a REAL driver in an Si let me know

Rep Power: 0 Hey PwN3d, what do you drive? And like honda guru said its all about the reaction times. So if your going to have any chance at beating the Si, you should go onto a back street one day and practice your launching learn how to feather the clutch in first gear, get your shifting down to an art where your flauless everytime especially throughing it into third gear cause thats where most people make there mistakes and also in the 1/8 mile thats going to be topping off the track and say by some chance you do have him beat at that piont you dont want to blow it at the end by missing your through into third gear. And hope and pray he doesnt know how to launch his Si or its probally going to be over befor it ever starts. Also you should invest in some slicks for the race for limited tire spin, and you should probally be able to dump the clutch some where between 3000 and 3500 rpm off the light. Good luck, thats all i have to say............lol......
