Rep Power: 0 It could've been worse. What happened was that his rear tires spun as he was accelerating.... with no traction to the rear wheels on a RWD car, that's what's gonna happen. If he tried to counter steer without letting off the gas, he might've totalled his car into the pole. It could've been worse but evidently he's never lost control of his car before. The owner of the Jetta was FURIOUS. His car might be totalled but damn, he sure did a good job ****in it up. He did more damage to the Jetta than to his own ride.
And yes... he JUST missed the limited production Type R. The MR-2 ain't in production no more either but wow... he just missed it. Like I said, it could've been worse.
EDIT, I see he hit the brakes and slid.... no oversteer.

Rep Power: 367 oh man. kids these days. heh. At least no one got hurt, it could have been a race with another car, and a bunch of kids standing in a straight line watching...
lots of cussing, and lots of OMG. I guess I would have too, or just been silent and take care of the insurance paper or something.. but guess everyone is in shock, eh?
TDI is a economy fuel mileage geared Jetta. even our car is faster than it. but I guess it can be tuned too, there are apperantly fast ones around while retainning the original high mpg intent.
Sucks what happened to it, I'll be pissed, and I'm sure suing for property damage is an option. especially with that video catching it all on tape.
looks like the owner of the mr2 is taking defensive measures though. he's requesting the email of the video tape owner because its:

I don't think he should be banned from the message board because of an ACCIDENT HE ADMITTED TO. Maybe he feels as if though it was the cars fault, but regardless, for the members of that board to cast stones for an accident that caused no harm to anyone physically, is plain neanderthal/herd mentality.
The kid's sorry and he has been punished. The accident is in the past, and the owner of the Jetta has nothing to worry about with regards to financing the repairs of his car. If worse comes to worse, the Insurance Co. will declare the car a loss and he will get to go shopping for another car.
Yeesh...the hoopla over this matter. It's like NO ONE here has EVER done anything stupid that resulted from bad judgement. Smell your own poop lately? Yeah...it stinks just like everyone else'
Internet High and Mighty attitude pisses me off to no end. Both parties are fine, and if anything can be learned from this, it's this:
Cars are cars and they are void of soul. Human life forms itself through love. None was destroyed with this incident. If every other word that comes from your mouth is a slang form of the word brother, you need to stay in school. The garbage that was uttered in the video cannot be classified as English.
For the life of me, that girl needs to have a big slab of soap smooshed into that gaping, smelly oriface known as her mouth.
the driver of the mr2 is 17... and has crashed his dad's SUV before appearantly.
it really really bothers me that there are people like this running around with high performance vehicles... I see a lot of that attitude on this board too... some are responsible (or enough to) and know the risk.. some... just think nothing will ever happen.
