Which is better, Toyota's VVTL-I, Honda's I-VTEC, or BMW's DOUBLE VANOS? does anyone have charts or anything to prove which is better?

Rep Power: 376 well, if there was ever a time to bring up hp/liter this is it.
Obviously VTEC does somethin right if honda got 120hp/liter naturally aspirated. Name any of those other companies that even come close to that kind of efficiency out of their technology.

They're also horrible on emissions. Hopefully the RX-8 will be slightly better.
How about ft/lbs per liter? Companies that favor turbochargers as their technology of choice are making over 100 ft/lbs per liter.
I think they are talking about things other than turbos, but yeah, turbo is a widely used technology I suppose.

Rep Power: 0 what about porsche's version of it all, which doesn't have a name but has both variable lift and timing? it's GREAT! i know from experience (dad has a 2002 911 Carrera 4-S, which has the variable lift and timing - 320 HP, 315 ft-lbs).

Rep Power: 0 I've read many commentaries on how Toyota's VVT-I is the most advanced and expensive of the VVT methods. I'll try to get the link... Look at Toyota's 1UZ-FE 4.3L v8 motor, its power and gas milage. The GS430 weighs around 4,300 lbs and goes from 0 to 60 in 5.7 S and the gas milage is 20=28 i believe. Thats impressive for a V8,also the first DOCH V8 (or any v8 for that matter) to achieve a ULEV status.
Oh and the Infiniti Q45 is 200 lbs lighter and takes .4 S longer to get to 60 MPH than the Lexus LS430... and the LS430 has 60 less horsepower

Rep Power: 379 well i think honda... the s2000 has 120hp/liter and the RSX type R 110/Liter... with out turbo
in a few forms, some insurance companies reconize rx-7's as 2 cylinder cars, thus cheap insurance.
so i would also pick a RX-8 because engine produces horsepower of 250 @ 8500 rpm , the highest power density ever achieved by a naturally aspirated rotary engine for a road-going automobile from a 1.3 liter engine

Rep Power: 302 Yes I know the RX8 is not a replacement for the RX7. I said that because it will be a new rotary engine.
I still like the fact, this was on TV last week, most HP per liter is the S2000. Props to Honda. Good news for S2000 man. What's your fuel economy like anyway lol.

Rep Power: 376 Well oddly enough, many S2k owners find we get much better gas mileage than what is rated. I've gotten 30-31mpg on long freeway trips. On average, even when driving the way I do, I get about 25-26mpg.
