don't forget, enviromentally freindly, better resale than its domestic & some of its import counterparts. great ergonomics... etc..

some of us are not really into speed/acceleration.. personally i could care less.. i just want a good lookin' car that has everything you and I had mentioned.

It seems people don't quite understand what a civic is.

Here's what it is.

An economy car. Nono, you've heard this before, but let it sink into your heads: economy car. One more time:
economy car

It is not a high performance machine geared toward winning races. Its not gonna participate in the WRC, LeMans. It doesn't have a performance engine. It doesn't have a performance transmission. It doesn't have a performance suspension. Its chasis is not performance oriented. Its wheels/tires are not performance oriented.


Before you rant and compare your economy compact car to a sports car, understand that your car was not meant for racing. Those mazda's and that neon, those are marketed toward performance oriented people. The 2001- Civic has made a conscious step in moving away from that.

The reason Honda moved (rightly) in that direction is that in marketing toward rice-lovers like ppl on this board, it alienates other buyers. I hate Altezza's, I hate them on that Mazda, I hate them on the Altima. I need an economic, reliable, well built car. And I like how it looks. The build quality (at least mine) is impeccable. If it had a stronger engine, better transmission and suspension I would never have the desire to upgrade to another car ...actually I don't have the desire right now.


Btw, if you plan on buying that '93 Porsche, its going to eat A LOT of money on maintanence. Parts/labor is atrocious, and they do break down from time to time.

Reliability has come a looooooonng way.

Main point here is that Honda should continue to make good cars, with good reliability/gas saving, but put a lil more beef into it. Stop it with the dinky lil 15" steelies, I mean.. look at the Si(R).. 25K canadian and u get little shitty 15" rims. What's up with that? Side skirts are extra and so are color matching side mouldings /door handles/mirrors... those should ALL be standard even on economy cars...

BLOWN just traded in his civic for a Pro 5 too, and i asked him he said he was extremely pleased as what the car came stock. Maybe honda should just step up a little more.

See and this is why this thread started....cuz BLOWN...is a good buddie of mine..and well he stoped by my house...right after the dealership...hahaha he didn't even know how to turn on his fogs yet....but crap..it came with fogs stock... a crazy aggressive grill.....body kit....rims....JDM style headlights...3spoke steering wheel..strut bar....blah blah blah...and its SiR blue...ok...enough said...like most of these things cost many thousands of $$$ to put into a civic...and the thing is....I go for show cuz well my car has no go....I just wish if they want to make such a B!TCH car.....(that was the only thing I could afford at the time and well always wanted a civic..cuz im a riceboy) at least they could have done...was make it look OFF THE HOOK...thats all I wanted.....like..fine...keep your crap engines..that save me 3$ a week on gas....WOW but come on...make it look nice like a Mazda.....and my civic..is fallin apart......

all the things Civicdude said were true...

1. Idle Shakes, It never does it at the dealer though so they cant fix it.
2. Wipers chatter (CHANGED MINE COMPLETELY)
3. Clutch pedal Squeeks Well so does my gas pedal
4. Creaking from struts in rear of the car TRY ALL MY OEM STRUTS WERE BLOWN
5. Installing mods are a night mare. Im referring to changing headlight bulbs, and installing rear speakers....to name a few.
BLOWN and I install **** for ppl so its not that hard to do.....we are still kinda scared to install my front KONI's....
6. Drivers Seat is lose. I have removed the seat and reinstalled it a few times. It stays tight for about 2 weeks and then gets loose again.
I started to fast once..and my seat (that my mom was sitting in) slid all the back and scared the **** out of her..she was scared it would slid forward if i breaked to hard
7. Build quality is not what it used to be.
REALLY...wow lets see....my breaks don't work....the tires I got were ***....ummm my windows sometimes dont roll down......DOES NEONE know what that noise is "YET" that comes from under your car...near the passanger side seat...that vibrates your whole car and makes that rumbling noise when you drive in the water when it rains.....??? My stock radio would fail...and my immobalizer would crap out....umm my A/C failed.....hmm whatelse....fule pump recall.....uhhhh did i mention my struts blowing...YUP......hmmmmm OH YEAH...HONDA IS A F>U>C>K>I>N>G tight ***....when it comes to warranty/oil changes/ and parts....wow..my factory body kit..only cost 1500$ after I got the manager down from $2100....like omfg......nightmares.....

Mazda gives free oil changes..i heard....

I still have my car in my sig. I like how I fixed up the outside im just not happy with the car as a package. I hate the fact that my car takes a long time to put in reverse...It happened last night when I was backing in to my driveway...took me about 5 times....Also I noticed when I downshift from 5th to 4th it doesnt want to go into 4th..........that drives me nuts

Please don't tell me that you consider the car not going into reverse immediately as a problem. That is completely normal for any car with a straight-shift. Have you ever had a manual that didn't do that from time to time? I am sure you know this.

It's a mental thing imo. Once people start to dislike their car or the grass looks greener on the otherside, every little thing seems like a major problem. A rock hits the windshield and leaves a glitter mark from where the glass chipped. Now, it's not the rocks fault it's the cheap glass that honda used. LOL This isn't directed at you civicdude but to all the people that act as I just described.

Lastly, why would honda want to make a hot-rod civic. They already sell everyone they make. Isn't the civic the top-selling econobox in N.A.? What about the accord? No problems selling everyone that comes off the line. What about the cr-v? No problems selling everyone there either. How about the pilot? Heck, those are selling for sticker +. What about the Odyssey? Haven't been able to meet demand for years now.

So, where does honda have a problem? They don't is your answer. They sell pretty much every vehicle that they produce and sell a ish load of em. The other manufacturers are coming out with these specialty vehicles because they are trying to find a niche they can compete in. They can't compete in the mainstream market so you see all these specialty or radically different vehicles coming out from those manufacturers. And how many do they sell of those vehicles? Not very many when compared to most other vehicles. The point is, Honda is doing very well at what it has been doing for years.

Lets start by the fact that you are compairing a 20k car to a 13k car... and progress to the fact that you threw an A4 in the mix, and conclude with the fact that the new accord offers more power and technolongy than both of those cars -> for the same money as the 6, and far less than the A4.

Well since we're picking nits.... Acura IS Honda. Acura is a division of Honda created for the US. Over in Japan, there is only Honda. Hence... Honda NSX, Honda Integra.

First, If reverse sticks, leave in nutreal and pump clutch about 3 times and you will slide into reverse like butter! as for slipping out of gear... Never had it happen and I drive my car hard as hell.

Second, the only problem with my car is a crunching sound in the left front when I turn right and hit a lil bump. Other then that my car has been great. I have gone 53,000 mile and haven't changed the airfilter. purrs like a tiger! I'm taking it for a tune up after the holidays.

Sorry to hear about all the problems you all are having. I personally love my car. it's more reliable then my girlfriend!!!!!

Need to stop comparing cars that are mass different in prices I havent had any major problems with my car except the wiper blades so I picked up the ricer APC aluminum ones with silcon blades No more problems and my windows are squeaky clean!

Im not comparing my car to anything. I bought the civic for "reliability" and "gas mileage", the gas mileage is great and the car is reliable I have just found alot of things that I m not happy with. This is my 4th honda. I had a 1983 accord, 1988 crx si, 1994 civic ex coupe, and my 2k1. My 94 civic was a much better built car. I never had any of the quirks that I found with my 2k1. I just feel that Honda's quality isnt what it used to be.

I agree, this the third Honda for me, my sister has a 98 CRV and that thing has been excellent, 1st gen CRV and as far as I know, no big problems with it, it's got liks 50k on it and my sister JUST changed the oil and brakes and the car has never given any problem considering how little care she took of the engine....my brother used to have a 97 civic sedan, and all I remember were the crappy floormats...that car was very very reliable in my opinion...

in my opinion, we bitch about the 7thgen and all it's problems because:
1) it follows the heritage of all the previews civics and instead of getting better it has gotten worst.....7th generation should aim for perfection not for crappy ratlling falling apart interior

2)it's looks nice yes...but i's concept it's not original (ford focus), I don't care who copied who, I bought a Honda and a Ford is similar looking to it...(coupe taillights...focus)

3)it's slow....slow...slow...slow!! I mean...it's just so damn slow...I get embarrased every time I step on the gas and feel like my engine is gonna blow up at 4k and I'm still going like 10mph and everybody looking at me like....so slow

4)There's so much noises inside I just can't name them all again....things are still a mystery to everyone

5)looks nice, but it's not worth it, since we're comparing cars with girlfriend....would you be happy with a gorgeous 6 feet redhead with blue eyes, and a body to envy by Aphrodite and comes from a loving caring rich wealthy happy family and has 3 sisters who amazing...BUT she bites you when she gives you ********...she never wants to put out, she yells at you all the time, she insults you in public, treat you like crap, slap you every time she wants to and cheats on you?????.....SURE, SHE'S GORGEOUS but in the inside, she sucks........so....like I've said many other times....7th gen civic, worst civic ever made...and I'm stuck with it because I have to accept how cruel this world is....
