Oldest Gen Civic?
Just wondering who has owned an old school civic at one time. When i was 16, my neighbor sold me his 3rd gen 1987 civic 4door for 1k. He's older so it was in perfect shape, all options, and tint! It had a carbuerator and window defrost, even a tape deck! So who else has owned a really old school civic before?
I wish I was asian

My first car was a 87 dx hatchback, bought it for 500 bucks. I loved the hell out of that car. Chicks really dug it for some reason. Unfortunately it started changing its own oil automatically (hehe) & just kept putting more in till i broke a piston rod or somthing like that. It still drove, but only like 5 mph & made a hell of a lot of noise. It finally locked up completely & I gave it to some chick.
so sad. Oh well, I was young & it wasnt worth anything. It was pretty clean though.

I met some guy with a 5-door hatchback last week.. you know, the ones that look like an Eagle Summit.. anyway, it was repaied in white, but it was still a piece of ****. Rust spots here and there... typical winter beater, I thought.
But this thing had a B16 stuffed into it... motor work.. and 80shot NOS... reduced weight.. the thing breaks into 13's!!! Sleeper of the year...

My friend had a 1977 CVCC hatch. It had a semi auto tranny. you could upshift from 1st to second to drive....it was tiny. Looked like this:

I wonder if these 7th gens will hold up like the old Civics did. A friend of mine told me the only good Japanese and German Cars were the ones made in the home countries. For Honda that would basically be Acura. for Volkswagen, that would basically be the Passat, which my friend called one of the good VWs, the Beetle and Jetta are made in Mexico. I wouldn't expect a whole lot out of these North American made Civics.
P.S. Under my friend's theory, I am thinking of trading my 01 Civic for a Electric Hybrid Civid, since those Civics are made in Japan, and one of the few ways of buying an Japanese made Civic in the U.S. After all, Honda was always about paying more for something new, and the Civic is getting old.
