Me, Id rather drift, yea i know i donw have a FR car but id rather drift then drive the qtr mile. It seems more like of an adrenaline rush and sumthing that takes alot of skill. Goin straight isnt really that hard. I need some excitement. What about the rest of you??

Rep Power: 0 I would agree that skill wise, an auto-xer can do everything that a drag racer can do, but not vice-versa. Auto-x takes so much more skill than drag. I would rather do auto-x than drag anyday, but drag is still fun.

Rep Power: 0 You can't drift traditionally with a FF chassis car, but you can use techniques that make seem that you are drifting in a FF chassis. Also, drifting is not always the fastest way of negiotating a turn.

Rep Power: 395 Some people will argue that our cars can't drift, only tail slide. I see what they're saying, but I invite them to drive with me sometime. I'll show them what our cars can do and they can decide for themselves what to call it.
Anyway, if we can't call it drifting let's call it autocross. I prefer autocross. The performance modifications out there can make our cars as good as RSX's suspension-wise, so autocrossing is really fun. Plus it does take more skill. Okay, there's skill involves with going straight. However, with autocross you need to learn how to accelerate well, and corner well, and brake well, etc...
So... Autocross. Definately autocross. Or for us who don't autocross, on-ramps and off-ramps and mountain roads. Yep.

I'm still a fan of the drag. I've never auto-x before. We don't have any tracks for that down here.

Rep Power: 302 definately drift over quarter. even though i would much rather auto-x over anything (drifting hurts your times)
Any one know any good Auto-X tracks? I think some one should pull together a group of 7th gens and run a track for the day. That would show the various engines platforms along with suspension/tire mods. Also a boatload of fun, and legal.

Why can't FF drift?
Basically the laws of physics won't allow it. See with a rear wheel drive car power is coming from the back so that basically means that you can slide the tail out and control the movement by countering with the front wheels. With a front wheel drive both the power and countering wheels are up front so it eliminates the possibilty of drifting grouped turns. A demonstration would be taking a rwd car and finding an open parking lot. Get up to a good speed and then just yank the steering wheel back and forth and you will start fishtailing. This can not be done with a ff and and drifitng is almost like fishtailing around turns. Of course this doesn't mean that you can't take your ff and throw it around turns because you can. Dave of Slide Squad does it pretty successfully with his Civic but the fact of the matter is that it's not drifting. A term that has become pretty popularized from the Velocity BBS is *** dragging.

Rep Power: 395 Not a ton, but they are worn. The front ones were worn out more though. I rotated my tires not too long ago. Plus I decreased the negative camber in back just a bit. Now it should be easier to slide around corners.
