Someone from the Acura EL forum posted these two links, take a look
http://www.thecarconnection.com/index.asp?article=5579&sid=176&n=156
and
http://www.autoweek.com/cat_content.mv?port_code=autoweek&cat_code=carnews &loc_code=index&content_code=02126639
Hmm... looks like Acura is adding a more powerful car into its line eh... to compete with toehr car manufacturuers.. that proably will be the Acura TSX
Guys... see.. Honda is making a move now..

"Acura will debut an all-new sports sedan at the 2003 North American International Auto Show in January, possibly dubbed the EL. The new Acura sedan will sport a high performance i-VTEC engine and sport-tune suspension with a four-seat cabin. The 2004 model will be positioned squarely between the RSX sports coupe and the 3.2 TL sedan. The new car is slated to go on sale in spring of 2003."
Okay, you gotta read everything carefully before you get too excited and jizz your pants and what not... I know what you are thinking--iVTEC, so it must be the 2.0L engine stuffed into the current 1.7EL's body. Wrong! You see, they said it will be positioned squaredly BETWEEN the RSX & 3.2TL... you and I both know Canadian-spec EL is ranked way at the bottom and below the RSX.
HOWEVER. Acura is indeed coming out with a new compact sedan, once dubbed as the TSX... based on the shorted Euro-spec Accord chassis. And that vehicle will indeed be perfect fit, to be inbetween the RSX & 3.2TL. And to double confirm, it will use the 200HP 2.0L iVTEC engine from the RSX. I guess they finally realized that "SX" cars should be reseved for coupes and not sedans, hence the possible use for the name "EL-series." I don't know why they don't use something like "GL" or whatever... it'll just confuse the heck out of people with the Canadian 1.7ELs running around.

Exactly true... if they come out with the TSx.. and end up decided to name it as EL.. then what about the current Canadian EL? This is confusing...
by the way.. just an observation... Honda likes to use a LARGER "H" emblem in the newer models eh.. like the latest 2003 Accord.. look at the GIANT H at the front.. and also from teh TSX pics shown in the link above.. again.. BIG H..

it's a pretty sport car especially the EuroR... I think it will still be called the TSX when it's here.
there's already a website with a forum about the TSX ===> Club TSX

Well, the names just could be different--just like how it's "Civic Si" and "Civic SiR" here...
Personally, I think they should call it something else, like 2.0GL or 2.4GL, or whatever engine they are going to use. That will eliminate the confusion. And next they should start selling the 1.7EL in US... and eventually have the 2.0EL in both countries (stuff the 160HP 2.0L motor in there). Keep the prices down, and you'll see a ton of people buying them...

if that really happens (stuff the 2.0 in)
i'd get that, LOL!
160 HP on that thing, plus leather, 4 wheel disc brakes, side airbag...
i rather not have them bring the EL down there...heheh...not too be mean or anything, but it makes EL owners feel special driving down there
hah
