Si or EX Coupe???

I found a deal on '03 Si's ~ $14,995.

Can I find a deal on '03 EX Coupe 5-Speeds less than that price?

Which is better for general stuff if they cost the same?

Thanks!

depends on if you are talking about a canadian si (an ex in disguise) or if you mean the hatch

but im guessing from the price you're american.. and so is the si you are talking about

the obvious differences are the engines and the fact that one is a hatch and one is a coupe

i think its a matter of personal prefferance... if you like the hatch go with it... if you like the coupe go with it

you will get more out of the si engine if you want to mod it (plus, its already a higher displacement, more powerful engine)

but since civics are pretty slow no matter what.. and the coupe (IMHO) looks much better, i would just go with the coupe

but like i said.. its your choice.... go do some more research

thats pretty cheap for an si, i think. i dont know if you'll find an ex for something cheaper than that. i shopped around like mad when i bought mine and the lowest i found it was 15501. maybe you'll find something better?

Around here, Si's are around $15k, you can get an EX for around $13.5k, so you probably could find a cheaper EX in your area.

It's like the thread I posted a couple of days ago.

The Si's are so cheap because they aren't selling. EX's cost as much as Si's now.

Subjective issues aside, I'd go for the si hands down. The interior and motor make it worth it.

Real world decision though, do you like the looks of the hatch? Is it practical for you?

I'd go for the EX coupe personally. I'm not a fan of the Si's styling. An EX for $13,500?!?!?! Mine was 17,500 for a 2002 in 2001. Oh well. The Si obviously has more potential since it has the K series engine, but I think Honda will come around and make an Si coupe again in the next few years. So, until then, Ex.

the Si was rated last in SCC 8 car test. bad handeling and all this other junk. plus i heard the rally style shifter makes your arm tired if you are shifting alot. it would be like if you held onto your volume button for about 10 min. after awhile your arm is gunna get tired. the seats and the engine are the only thing going for that car. other than that, EX all the way.

Yep the SI came in last in SCC I loved the article it showed everyone how it really is. I don't care for the new SI I drove it and was still happy to get in my civic ex and drive home. The engine is better then then the EX, I liked the seats but not a kind of car that would suite me for my needs and the design would embarass me.

But if you can get a good deal then I say go for it

Nick

Based on the looks I would definitely take the coupe EX, and if you can get it cheaper than the Si, then you can get some rims and have a good looking car.

I personally don´t like the hatch, and havent driven one but it is probably a lot more fun to drive than the EX.

You must also consider... do you want a soccer mom mini-minivan (Si) or a sporty-looking coupe? I hope that helps.

With all due respect, people think the Si (SiR's) are butt ugly.. i honestly think the 2k1+ Civic Sedans are ugly. Really, the back of the sedan is just nasty. But that's my opinion. No matter what kinda kit or rims you put the Sedan, it's just nasty.

BUT on the other hand, if you put a type R body kit on the Si(R) hatch, with some 17's, it looks REALLY nice. For that price, go for the SI(r) man. Faster and more potential.

Get the SI, it has nice interior and much better engine. I totally agree with n00dleboy "if you put a type R body kit on the Si(R) hatch, with some 17's, it looks REALLY nice. For that price, go for the SI(r) man. Faster and more potential. "

WOW! A minivan with larger rims and some body cladding. Now, that is what I call style... lol.

At least the Si has better aftermarket support. Right now for less money it can be far more capable than any U.S. Spec coupe.

In my honest opinion: I love the Coupe's look much better than well, any honda.

Here's some things that make me want the Si more:

> The New D3 Projectors
> The D3 CF Body Kit
> The New Vivid Blue
> 4-Wheel Discs
> The seats

And that's it. If I could get some Si Seats and Vivid Blue Paint, i'd be in awe for a coupe.

The Wilwood kit would take care of the braking needs.

Anyone know how much Si seats run from a totalled si? That's usually the cheapest way to get OEM ****.

By the way, I hate where the Si's shifter is. It's useless there, no place to rest your damn hand.

Thanks for all the comments,

Any more comments?

I was at the honda dealer (where I bought my car from) to checkout the Si's, they have a brand new over stock ex cp 5 speed for 14,100.00 the only problem is it being a 02. I am planning to switch to an Si and 14,995 is a great deal for a 03, the best deal I got here is 16,000 for a 02. good luck and let me know where that si is at for 14,995

Lets face the truth, the SI looks like **** but is faster stock. If you want something you can mod into a nice looking relatively fast car then go with the EX thats what i did. if you dont care about looks and want a faster 7th generation civic then go with the SI. I still wish they put the K series engine in a coupe body like they use to

when did they ever put a k-series into a coupe body? you mean in the RSX? that's the only coupe i know that's packing a k-series. well, and the 4-cyl accord coupe, but that's a k24.

didnt i say 'stock"?

yes i did.

you can get a just as reliable used car as easy as getting a new one if you look around. on top of that, yes, if you get it from a delaer it will most likely be under warrenty. all that plus, when you drive a NEW car off the lot, you automatically lose 20% of its initial value.

I went to the dealer to pick up an oil filter and paused when passing an Si that was in the showroom, just to look at it since I had only seen them on the road. A salesman came up and mentioned they have a good deal going on them due to over-stock... so I asked how much... he said $15,000. It seems like a good deal to me...
