Pics of a Civic with functional WRX scoop

This is my first attempt at photoshopping something so be nice with comments.

I had to put the ownership info on the pic so no one tries to use it to sell some junk on eBay.

This is what a Civic would look like if it were given a fuctional hood scoop from a WRX.

I also did one with a Celica-type scoop but it doesn't look as good.

Alright... exactly how much power could be gained from such an intake setup? I assume it would allow much more air in than a standard intake, SRI, or CAI. Anyone know?

Edit I just added the Celica scoop pic. It's not quite as good of quality as the other one, but the scoop is a bit less obtrusive.

hey iron fist...
cool PHOTOSHOP, however it does look rather lame and ugly. if it were to be an actual scoop, i hope it wouldnt be soo wide. that thing stretches practically over the whole damn hood! yuck! either way, it will be about the same functionability.... NOT VERY. yes, it will allow some cooler air to come in through the top of the engine instead of from the bottom through the airdam, but still wont give any significant HP gains. HP gains with our intakes arent related too highly to the temperature of the intake air, but more so ... the problem relates to the THROTTLE BODY and INTAKE MANIFOLD. basically the oem set up sucks cuz its all too narrow and plastic!

COLDER AIR WOULD BE NICE THOUGH, GOOD JOB!!

Thanks. I actually used Fireworks and not Photoshop, but I can still call it a photoshopped pic, right?

That's about how wide it is on a WRX, isn't it?

I'm still pretty much a newbie, and I don't know what a throttle body or intake manifold are, or what they do. I just assumed that more air means you can use more gas (keeping a good air/fuel ratio), which means more power I don't really know tho.

And I wouldn't assume it would be too hard to build an adapter to allow a hood scoop to bring air to the engine. Again, I don't know, though.

The more I look at it the better I like it, however.

If you put the scoop right there, and put the stock airbox back on, you could pull air right down that scoop onto the filter. It could be functional, I just don't know how much better it would work.

thats a good chop but IMO the only cars that needs and looks good with a hood scoop are those rugged dirt road cars like the wrx. on a civic

actually, it is a pretty good photoshop so but it really doesn't look good on the civic and i think on the wrx the hood is a little smaller than ours so the hood scoop looks more centered.....

edit: nevermind, it's definitely not centered on the wrx, i just thought so but the intercooler is really way up there. i dunno, i guess it just goes a lot better with the rest of the wrx's looks

It needs to be moved up more twards the middle of the hood. It looks way to far back. But it's a nice chop

needs a body kit and a drop if you asked me. all of our cars look wack with like a carbon hood and no body kit and no drop. just my $0.02. if you think about it, photoshop a kaminari hood on a stock civ, it looks fugly don't it?

Maybe it does look goofy, but I'd do it for a 15hp gain

Good job on the drop, FroggyLX. I was messing around with that but I didn't want to change too much stuff. Hey, when you dropped it, did you lower the car or raise the wheels in the pic? j/w.

Hahahahaha.

OK... I don't know how to photo chop, but someone may want to try this....
Put a recess into the front center of the hood (to about 1/2 way back.... somewhere in the area right behind the engine. Then just cut a hole at the back of the recess. This way, nothing sticks up, and you can still have a functional scoop. Something to the effect of the Kaminari hood, but totally recessed in.
I don't know if it'll clear the engine, but if your just trying to see what it would look like, it may be something to try. It'll probably look better than a big mouth sticking up.

Check out the Celica one I did (back up on the first post, I just added it). I didn't do that good of a job with the chop, but you guys might like the way it looks better.

The recess is a good idea, but I had trouble making it look right.

No, that's Alphster's ride. I forgot to put the ownership notice on the Celica scoop one. Oops. I have no idea what kind of wheels those are. Sorry.
