AEM intake BROKEN somehow help!
HI. Ive been on this board for a long time... I just had to get a new login name since i never post messages. My freakin AEM short ram broke within the past month. I opened up my hood tonight and noticed that my AEM short ram's bolt harness ripped off and opened up my intake to unfiltered air. I am in the process of finding out where i exactly bought this intake, possibly www.civicsuperstore.com. Its freakin wide open! the spot where the intake connects to my engine that mounts is ripped off, and there is a wide open hole. I apoligize for b*tching on this board, but this is the only place i know where i can say what i want, and get a straight answer. What should i do about this?? Who should i contact to get a replacement? Hopefully my engine is not damaged. I believe the normal wear and tear has destroyed my AEM intake!!! Gees, if anyone can help, my email is heal@attbi.com thanks a lot guys!

call AEM to get a replacement.
I doubt its cuz he torque the bolt too much.
they probably didn't weld that bracket right... and it eventualy ripped up.
I'd replace that immediately. if you have ur stock setup go back to it. its better anyway.
get the replacement, sell it. and go back to stock with a K&N drop in. thats what I recommend.

im a lil confused on what happend? did the Ram Tube just fall off of the Throttle body? or did something actually break? i dont have an AEM SRI, so im not 100% sure what the set up looks like up close, but if its anything like my OBX SRI, im assuming that something might have come loose maybe. i just recently found my filter laying flat next to my battery the other day, so i just Siliconed it back to its base which was still attached to the SRI tube. well, not sure i can be of any help here without a picture, so goodluck!

Just to let you know, you most likely didn't do any harm to your engine. Although unfiltered air is not good, as long as you didn't go on really dusty roads or threw dirt insode your fine.

well I think his bracket that held the intake to the engine broke off due to engine vibration...
your OBX SRI is an InJen replica, so... you know what bracket you got on the intake pipping? thats what broke off.

Right, it broke off from the bracket, not the throttle body. I didnt screw it on too tight, and not too loose. i just put some duct tape over the hole. Its very secure but im taking a picture of it with a digi camera later and i'll post here.
Thanks

i guess the duct tape if strong enough will do... just make sure there aren't any debris or whatever left inside the pipping..
I'd take it apart and check the throttle body opening anyway just to be sure...
you dont really need to attach it to the bracket really, the adapters itself with the clamps holds the entire intake pretty well.
