Resonator box

I was wondering if taking off the resonator box would cause any harm to the engine or anything else besides the enviornment. I was told that the only thing it does is to restrict air flow and for emission laws.

It won't do anything except make your intake growl deeply. I actually gained a MPG or two removing it. Sure, you're intake is now less restrictive, but you're also sucking in hotter air.

When I first got my car I removed the intake resonator for kicks. It sounds pretty ricey and you lose bottom end torque. You may gain some mileage or a hp on the top end.
