Is NOS illegal?
is nitrous illegal?
What are the laws in the Us and Canada on nitrous I see alot of people on this site running nitrous but what if a cop finds it? does anything happen?Does he give you a ticket or what?
Everyone tell me it is illegal (Canada) but then people in the US with supra's have tanks of nitrous you can clearly see threw the window

A few cops have told me that it is illegal to have the bottle valve opened on public streets, but if you have the bottle and its closed that is fine. I.e. it's illegal to use but legal to have.

I dont know about canada, but they dont count anyway. In the states, it depends on what state you are in. *most* stated allow it for on track use only. A few, such as texas dont care if its in your car 24/7. Here in CA, its only legal for "off road use only". Its even illegal to have a filled, all be it disconnected or closed N20 bottle in the trunk dirring regualr driving on the street/highway, due to the fact that its under pressure, and has the possability of exploding. You need a proper firewall (ie back seat) and a dangerous materials transpoering lisence to counter that.. legaLLY ANYWAY.

But like i said it DEPEDNS ON WHAT STATE YOU ARE IN.
I suggest visiting your local DMVs webpage for specific laws regarding your local vehicle codes.

HondaGuru is right on this when it comes to California. You can't have it on your car (if it is filled). You need a license to transport Hazardous Material and all the stuff that he listed.

Well in toronto the cops have a program called P.A.C.E.R . Which is a program against street racing. Now I know that they make you pop your hood and if they see any nitrous components they tell you to open your trunk. If you have a bottle in the trunk your fu^Ked (Full or empty). They'll point to so the section of the lable that says FOR OFF ROAD USE ONLY, and hand you a nice ticket. Plus they send your insurance company a letter saying that you have NOS and your insurance might go up. Now this will vary from province to province or state to state. If you really want to go nitrous I would personally go with the sneaky pete system. Although you do have to fill the bottle often it's better than getting caught! Good luck
