What Is VTEC?

I have an EX. I noticed my car has a jump.. when I get close to flooring.

It'll be driving normally then soon as I press near flooring... the engine sound becomes very loud and I feel like a boost.

Is that the VTEC, that everyone's talking about?

If that's Vtec kicking in, LX,DX drivers don't get to experience this?

VTEC stands for Variable valve Timing and lift Electronic Control

I could go into detail and explain what THAT means exactly, but no way in hell im doing that. It would take forever.

Instead i opt to link you to THIS.

HOW VTEC WORKS

and there are MUCH faster cars out there without "VTEC" there there are with, and in MUCH greater numbers. Dont jack off over the fact that you have it.

Although I understand what you are trying to say, your reply is so loaded with dumb, my brain now hurts from reading it.

Hmm. Well, if you have an automatic and you're "driving normally" and then if you "press near flooring," that's most likely a downshift you're feeling (ie. you were in 3rd or 4th and you floored it so the car's computer goes "I need more power" and downshifted into second).

If you have a manual then that's definately not the case.

If it is VTEC, you will feel it at like 5000(?)rpms assuming you stay in the same gear.

But since you said you're driving along and then when you floor it from there you feel a boost, that just sounds like a downshift to me.

I'm surprised "VTEC" isn't an energy drink by now... VTEC this, VTEC that...
